Senior self defence and fitness in Broadstairs.

As I get into my 50’s I appreciate more and more the benefits of regular Hapkido. If you’re feeling the symptoms of ageing and want to do something about it, you know what to do.

Our Friday morning senior/beginner class is a gentle introduction to Hapkido where you’ll learn the basics in a friendly pressure-free environment.

Joint Health & Flexibility:
Hapkido uses fluid, circular motions and joint manipulation that help maintain mobility.

Fall Prevention: A critical skill taught in Hapkido is soft breakfalls, which train older adults to absorb shock and roll safely, significantly reducing the risk of injury from everyday falls.

Functional Strength: Practitioners develop muscle tone and bone density—essential for countering conditions like osteoporosis—through stances and controlled defensive movements.

Improved Balance: Constant practice of reflexive routines and stances enhances proprioception (body awareness), which naturally declines with age.

We also practice meditation and traditional exercises that relax and stretch the body while improving focus and core strength.
