A tough afternoon in the sunshine for Blunsdon Ladies as we welcomed a strong, young Highworth side for our first game of the season. โ๏ธโฝ๏ธ
The ladies started the game brilliantly, showing plenty of determination, energy and commitment from the first whistle. We played some really good football and worked hard as a team, creating some positive moments.
To go 1โ0 up was a real show of strength and a fantastic reward for the effort being put in. We continued to battle hard and went into half time having given everything.
The second half proved a much tougher challenge. The heat, exhaustion and lack of air began to take its toll, and with tired legs and fitness levels being tested, Highworth were able to take control of the game and add to their tally.
Despite the final score of 1โ7, there were plenty of positives to take from our first outing of the season. The ladies showed great fight and commitment throughout and never stopped working for each other, even when the game became difficult.
Weโre stepping up into a tougher league this season, and today was a great opportunity to experience the level of competition weโll be facing. Thereโs plenty for us to take from the game as we continue to build and find our rhythm.
