Abit about how Carnival Fitness was born!
MEET THE FOUNDERS OF
🔸How it all started...
Carnival is a celebration of colour, an explosion of energy, contagious rhythms and dance, celebrated all over the Caribbean. The power of the music, the energy and atmosphere are unreal, taking over you, dancing day and night. It's magical; plus a great workout! Both Pilo & Ilaria grew up dancing in Carnival, and when they went to Trinidad & Tobago for the first time, they knew they HAD to bring Soca to their classes. We wanted to bring magic and energy of Carnival to the studio, to celebrate and dance every single day. You need good stamina for Carnival so why not practice all year round.
It's just like playing mas, waving your colourful rags and flags, jumping and wining to the best Caribbean music!
🔸Pilo
Pilo is a personal trainer, gym and exercise to music instructor as well as salsa teacher and DJ. This entrepreneurial fitness guru and co-founder of PILOXERCISE has infectious energy inspired by his Latin and Caribbean upbringing in Cuba. He has danced and DJ'd internationally all over the UK, Europe and now Australia, including at Glastonbury Festival, St Paul's and Nottinghill Carnival.
Pilo is passionate about sharing his love for dance and music with people and has been lucky enough to grow up with it forming such a large part of his life. He is passionate about supporting people with chronic conditions and is currently specialising in Exercise Referral.
🔸Ilaria
I've always been into dance, in fact, I started as soon as I could walk! I fell in love with style after style over the years with street dance being my favourite.
Not only was she a pageant queen and danced competitively, but now also works as a doctor with a special interest in Sports Medicine. She has been dancing since she could walk and has been teaching for over 15years. After living and working on the Caribbean island of Tobago, I fell in love with Soca and it became our inspiration for our programmes. "I believe everyone has the right to good health and wellbeing, and we want to be able to help people to achieve that no matter their cultural or socio-economic background".
