Bristol St Andrews Bowls Club is delighted to report that its Open Day on Saturday 23 May 2026 was a tremendous success, attracting a steady flow of visitors throughout the day and showcasing the club at its very best. With perfect weather of around 25°C and the green looking fantastic thanks to the hard work of the Monday Working Party made up of club members, the event provided the ideal setting to welcome both experienced players and first-time bowlers.
There was a particularly encouraging mix of visitors, with adults dropping in steadily across the day and a good number of younger players also enjoying the opportunity to try bowls. The welcoming atmosphere on and off the green helped create a relaxed, family-friendly occasion that reflected the spirit of the club and the appeal of the sport to all ages.
The barbecue proved to be a major draw, with food being served throughout the day, while cake sales, tea, coffee and the low cost bar all added to the occasion and helped make it a thoroughly enjoyable community event. The raffle was another highlight, raising valuable support for the club, and special thanks go to the generous local businesses that donated prizes, along with members who also contributed so kindly.
Club representatives said it was impossible to single out any one individual for special mention, as the success of the day was very much a team effort. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who helped prepare, organise, run and support the event. Their hard work, enthusiasm and generosity ensured that the Open Day was a success from start to finish.
Even more encouragingly, many of the people who came along have already expressed an interest in returning for another go. The club now looks forward to welcoming new and returning faces to a Bowls Bash-style evening on Monday 1 June 2026, offering another chance for people to get involved and experience the friendly atmosphere at Bristol St Andrews Bowls Club.
