Another excellent week for our junior sides with plenty of wins, tight finishes and standout performances! π¦π»π
π¦ The U11 Lions secured a comfortable victory after posting 125. Rapha Gilmore, Fred Butcher and Tom Webb all retired on 25, while William Toogood provided excellent support with 22*. The bowlers then wrapped things up in style, led by Noah O'Sullivan (2-5), Max Heffernan (2-12) and Josh Febry (2-10) as the Lions defended their total with ease.
π¦ The U15 Lions came out on top in a low-scoring thriller. Ben Leonard (sponsored by FirstSportsCoaching), Harrison Davis and William Sharman all claimed two wickets apiece to keep the opposition in check. Tobias Vamplew (22) and Josh Rendell (18) laid the foundations before Harrison Davis struck two boundaries in the final over to end unbeaten on 20 from just 13 balls and see the Lions home.
π» The U15 Bears were also involved in a nail-biter, edging victory by just two runs. Oliver Febry led the way with 50 retired, while Austin McLelland added 34 in a total of 134. Eddie Rendell was the standout bowler with 2-20 from his four overs as the Bears held their nerve to claim the win.
π¦ On Tuesday, the U13 Lions continued their impressive form with a routine seven-wicket victory. Stan Scott (2-4), Joe Walker (2-7) and Joe Harper (2-19) helped restrict the opposition to 89. Austin McLelland (24) and Ben Leonard (20) then guided the chase as the Lions reached their target with five overs to spare.
π» The U13 Bears endured a tougher evening despite Rory Cooke's excellent 2-6. There were also wickets for Zayd Parwaiz, Harry Rust, George Hill, Fred Butcher and Alfie Heffernan. With the bat, Zayd provided the main resistance, battling hard for 17.
π» The U15 Bears were in GYCL action on Sunday and fell to defeat despite a fine all round performance from Jacob Hayden who claimed 2-11 before smashing 69 from 54 balls as the Bears went down by 38 runs.
