⚽️ U9s Youth Match Report ⚽️

Our U9s started their league campaign this weekend against Mendip Broadwalk, a team we had two really good games against last season. We knew they would be a good outfit and a physical side, so we knew the lads would have to be at their best! 🙌🏻👏🏻

Over the summer, we’ve asked a few things from the lads — play good football, work hard and, most importantly, play with a smile. 😊
The lads have worked so hard over the summer, giving everything in every match and every training session. We genuinely cannot fault this group of lads👏🏻💚

⚽️ Game 1
We started off really well, keeping the ball and moving it around the pitch. Whenever we lost possession, the focus was always on how quickly we could win it back, and the lads did that so well. We scored some amazing footballing goals and had some cracking finishes. It was a fantastic team performance from start to finish👏🏻🔥

Our Player of the Match was Max. This lad joined us over the summer and was in goal for us this weekend. He has shown some outstanding goalkeeping skills since joining us and pulled off some unbelievable saves across both halves. He was solid all day and thoroughly deserved the award. It was a very difficult one to pick with how well the whole squad played! 👏🏻💚

⚽️ Game 2
We started off very much the same as the first game. You could see very quickly the way we want to play as a squad. All the lads knew their roles, played some amazing football all over the pitch, scored some cracking goals and, once again, worked incredibly hard all game.
There were plenty of smiles too, which is another really important goal for us! 👏🏻🔥

Our Player of the Match was Ceejay. He played in the back two as we were playing 6v6 and put in a really solid performance. He won all of his 1v1 duels, showed great confidence playing out from the back and drove forward with the ball whenever he had the opportunity. Just a really calm, composed and all-round solid performance👏🏻💚

He even grabbed himself an assist along the way! Well done, lad 👏🏻🔥

Another quality team performance and a clean sheet to go with it. Outstanding from the whole group! 💚👏🏻

We now look forward to next week and our new adventure in the cup! 🏆👏🏻🔥

🟢 U12’s Southmead 1 - 4 Wessex Juniors🟢

Our first game did not quiet go to plan and where awarded the points before the game due to a selection mis hap from the opposition.
After a very strong first half where we dominated the game through out we took a 1-0 lead into half time. In that first half we played some outstanding football our goal coming from Kingsley with great build up play from new signing Theo who was a constant menace through out the game and is a great addition to the squad. With only 11 players and an unusually big pitch Wessex were able to change the whole squad and our team never gave up but eventually lost 4-1. Was super proud of the team and playing against a lot of players from the higher league we held our own.

MOTM

Rory - played his first game for Southmead and was amazing at the back his calm presence and strong tackling from the first to the last minute was incredible and another great addition to the squad.

We're looking to welcome a few more Year 1 children to join our Southmead Mini Ballers U6s squad for the 2026/27 season!

Whether your child is new to football or already loves playing, we'd love to have them come along and get involved in a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment where they can learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy the game.

We will be looking to play friendly matches this year, we still have spaces to join this team!⚽️🟢

⚽️ MINI BALLERS – SESSION CANCELLED THIS MORNING ⚽️

Unfortunately, we’ve had to make the decision to cancel this morning’s Mini Ballers session.

We’ve had some sickness within one of our coaches’ families, and with other coaches away it’ll mean merging many of the groups and mixing ages.

With the weather also looking pretty miserable, we think it’s best to give today a miss rather than have our little superstars out getting cold and wet — especially with the first week back at school just around the corner! 🌧️

We hope everyone has a lovely Bank Holiday weekend, stays warm and dry, and we’ll see our Mini Ballers again soon! ⚽️
