Ever experienced back pain? Yes, there are lots of us that do, including me....
Whenever we need to recover from back pain, or a back injury, we always need to improve stability and strength within the pelvis. Any instability or weakness is likely to be the cause of the pain/injury too.
Pilates is so important because it emphasises building strength from 'neutral pelvis' - the best position for generating force (to move your legs, or to lift something). It is excellent for injury rehabilitation and prevention. And I've done a specialised course in this too. (Pilates for injuries & pathologies by Sam Wood, BASI).
Working with a teacher gives you support in learning about neutral pelvis, and shows you the most effective ways to utilize it. Exercises need to be done right, and mindfully, in order to be truly effective.
