About "Dance Beans..."
'Dance Beans' is aimed at children in Years 1 & 2 (though I am open to dancing with reception-aged children if they are comfortable in the class without a parent or carer)
My main aim for 'Dance Beans' is for the young people to have fun, feel good about themselves and explore new ways that their bodies can move...but, alongside this are clear physical and learning outcomes...
'Dance Beans' takes influence from lots of different dance styles...namely ballet...but introduces skills creatively via weekly themes.
I might focus on a core skill such as balance by 'being a flamingo' - the children build balance skills as well as learning the position of the foot next to the leg for skipping...or I might be encouraging gross motor skills by jumping over 'shark-infested waters'...you get the gist. Everything has a purpose but to the young dancers, the focus is on fun, creativity and exploring their physicality and expression.
I use a wide variety of music as well as props...and every few terms, we build up to occasional 'sharings' for parents (these are very relaxed and informal).
Please feel free to DM me if you would like any more info on 'Dance Beans' classes...
