THE Bristol & District regained the GCF Trophy with a comfortable seven wicket victory at Hawkesbury Cricket Club over Gloucestershire in the annual season-ending league challenge .
Gloucestershire, who won the toss, struggled to reach 149, rallying from 65-6 in the 26th over thanks to Toriqal Islam (36), skipper Jack O’Connell (32) and Charlie Groves (18 not).
Owen Onslow went on to pick up the player of the match award for his return of 4-31 from six overs while there were also outstanding spells from fellow spinner Abdullah Tabraiz (1-17 from eight) and Waqas Ahmad (1-16 from 7.2).
Gloucestershire needed to make early inroads if they were to have any chance of holding on to the trophy.
But B&D openers Abdur-Rehman Tabraiz (34) and captain James Copeland took advantage of some wayward bowling to share a stand of 84.
Rich Robinson briefly gave Gloucestershire hope with two strikes in quick succession but Copeland (48) and Dan Laver (30 not) combined to see their side to the spoils with almost 13 overs to spare.
Victory means Bristol & District now hold a 3-2 advantage over Gloucestershire ahead of staging the 2027 challenge.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Seniors brought the curtain down on another hectic season with two friendly matches against Somerset at Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club - Bristol, winning one and losing one.
The 60s emerged seven wicket victors, Stuart Wilshaw (3-20 from seven) and Dennis Mullings (3-33 from eight) shining with the ball ahead of Mike Pickard (51) and skipper Ian Robson (42, both retired) leading the charge towards a target of 200.
The 70s, meanwhile, came up 18 runs short on an adjoining pitch, Andy Kear capturing 3-42 and Robert Murray 2-35 while Dave Collinson (47) and opener Peter Adams (40) top scored in reply to Somerset’s challenge of 222-7.
John Evans, meanwhile, will captain England Over 70s for the final time on Sunday, in a match against the newly formed England 65s Trial XI, at Wolverton Town CC in Milton Keynes.
Evo steps down after a remarkable stint as skipper which has included leading England to two World Cup titles, two Silver Ashes victories and a 3-0 series success this summer over New Zealand.
In total, the former chair of Frocester Cricket Club, who will continue to play, has been at the helm for 24 games, winning 21.

The season isn't quite over ...

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Over 50s missed out on a final and the chance of silverware after slipping to a six wicket defeat away to Surrey.
The visitors reached 250-7 from their 45 after losing the toss at Cheam, Ben Trotman (76) and Graham Herring (64) dominating the scorecard.
Surrey then went on to complete a comfortable win with more than three overs to spare.
The 60s 2nds, meanwhile, completed a 36-run friendly victory away to Warwickshire that featured unbeaten half centuries from captain Richard Graham, Lee Pattison and Srini Kamath along with two wickets apiece for Tim Cull and Ian Bentley.
And the 70s 2nds chased down a target of 251 in a friendly away to Hertfordshire for a fine four wicket triumph, Peter Adams and Tom Parsons leading the charge with unbeaten half centuries.
Gloucestershire O50s went on to wrap up their summer with an inter-club friendly at the Clanage that included unbeaten half centuries from Ian Robson and Chris McCormack.
