Our latest Gloucestershire Seniors Cricket review ...
JOHN Evans top scored with an unbeaten 124 as Gloucestershire Over 70s extended their unbeaten run with a comfortable 98-run victory away to Shropshire.
The visitors, who won the toss, piled up 274-3 from their 45 thanks mainly to a second wicket stand of 166 between Evans and Bill Lawrence (75).
Evans, who came to the crease after the fall of the first wicket in the opening over, faced 132 deliveries and stroked 16 boundaries.
In reply, Shropshire came up well short as Andy Kear (3-35 from nine), Ken Earl (2-26 from nine) and Mike Pearson (2-38 from eight) all struck while there were also tight spells from Tony Garton (0-17 from seven) and Geoff Eaves (0-27 from eight).
Gloucestershire Over 60s, meanwhile, dispatched Cornwall by 75 runs at Shirehampton Cricket Club.
James Cotterill (79) and Ed Gordon Lennox (54) shone in a challenge of 212-8 after winning the toss before Cornwall wilted against Nick Marment (3-20 from 6.4), Ken Earl (3-32 from nine) and Phil Edge (2-28 from six).
The 2nds kept their nerve for a nine-run success away to Oxfordshire, Andy Taylor hitting 66 and skipper Steve Pennington claiming 4-37 from eight.
The 60s 3rds slipped up by five wickets away to Oxfordshire but there was a 100-run derby triumph for the 4ths away to Somerset with opener David Parker (68) and Hanif Shaikh (67 not) shining before Jon Peck and Keith Williams bagged three wickets apiece.
Gloucestershire Over 60s 5ths bowled out Wales for 171 at Birdlip & Brimpsfield Cricket Club, Andy Howe and Graham Clarke finishing with three wickets apiece, but were then edged out by 63 runs.
Gloucestershire Over 50s 2nds dug deep for an excellent 10-run home win against Dorset at Whitchurch Cricketclub.
Opener Chris McCormack compiled his maiden ton for the side, finishing unbeaten on 129 from 136 (13 fours, two sixes) in a total of 287-5 after losing the toss.
Dorset, in reply, began well before rain and bad light ended play with the home side ahead on DLS.
The 50s 3rds romped in by ten wickets at home to Warwickshire at Chalford Cricket Club, Patrick Legge (3-6 from four) and Sathya Prakash (3-20 from nine) dismissing the visitors for 83.
Tim McVicker (43) and Stuart Davenport (40) then needed less than 12 overs to bank the points.
GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S Ed Gordon Lennox hit 34 as he captained England Over 60s to a 107-run victory against Wales at Eastnor.
And congratulations to Richard Trotman who has been named in the England Over 50 squad to face India at Broxbourne on June 28.
