Statement from Vice Chair of Sporting Weston F.C.

Thank you for the two complaints regarding the new temporary barrier & foul language at King George V Playing Field, Cleeve

• We ask our players and supporters not to use that type of language. We cannot control what opposing teams do. However, an appointment referee should deal with this.

• We have not added another pole to the barrier and we will not be adding advertising boards. Access is still available to that part of the field.

• We are from predominantly different backgrounds to tennis and cricket. It doesn’t make us bad, just different.

• We have tried to assist the community where possible. I spoke with an older gentleman in the village who sadly lost his life partner. I have offered to meet with him when I’m at Cleeve to solve his loneliness.

• We often have to clean up dog mess from the field, alcohol cans and drug packets from the dugouts. We erected posts with dog mess bags that were vandalised and our equipment has often also been vandalised.

• Should anyone in Cleeve have an issue with the football club please do contact me and I will happily discuss those concerns.

I personally thought it was great to see lots of child and adult teams enjoying themselves, staying fit and active and helping their mental health.
