A huge THANK YOU to Tiziana and Rosie from Re-Fabricate for running a brilliant ‘Build with Anything’ workshop at the park yesterday 🛠️🪵 as part of Bristol Good Food 2030 growing trail

Despite the drizzly weather, we all rolled up our sleeves and worked hard together to design and create two much-needed new storage pieces for our garden. 🙌

There are still a few final touches to add, so stay tuned for the big reveal… 👀✨

A big thank you to everyone who came along and got stuck in- it was fantastic to see everyone working together and making things happen!

And thank you also to Uschi for the delicious cake- very much appreciated! 🍰❤️

Dame Emily Park Project (DEPP) is looking for enthusiastic, skilled and knowledgeable people to run workshops for us and the local community.

Previous workshops have included
🍄 mushroom foraging
🦇 making bat boxes
🌿 learning about herbs
🧶 weaving
🎄 making Christmas decorations
and much much more!

We know there are plenty more brilliant ideas and talented people out there!

Whether you're a maker, grower, artist, craftsperson, nature lover, teacher or simply passionate about sharing what you know, we’d love to hear from you.

💷 We typically offer £200 per workshop (negotiable).

We’re currently looking for workshops to run throughout the autumn and winter, but it’s never too early to start planning, so if you’ve got an idea for 2027, please get in touch!

🍎 What a fantastic apple pressing day! 🍏
Today was a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages, young and old, to come together and discover the traditional art of apple pressing.
Turning freshly picked apples into delicious, natural apple juice. It was brilliant to see so many people getting involved and having fun.
A big thank you to Patchwork Community Gardening Group for organising this and everyone who came along and made the day so special. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! 🌳🍎

🌱 What a busy gardening session today! 🌻
We started with good intentions… and ended up doing a LOT!
Today’s garden crew have been busy with:
🎨 Painting – because every good gardening session needs a bit of colour!
🗑️ Litter picking – an impressive 5 FULL bags collected! 💪
🍓 Pruning the raspberry plants – getting them ready for another fruitful season.
🥬 Harvesting – chard, tomatoes, kale and salads all making their way from garden to table. Yum!

And the kids had some very important jobs too…
🌻 Throwing sunflower and marigold seeds along the edge between the skatepark and playground.
🐌 Going on a snail hunt – because apparently no gardening session is complete without meeting the local slimy residents!

And after all that hard work, we were VERY pleased to enjoy some absolutely delicious chocolate cake, kindly provided by Dorothèe. 🍰❤️
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got stuck in and made the garden a little happier today. 🌿💚

🔥 FREE FIREWOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY 🪵
There is some firewood available free for anyone in the local community.
Please help yourself and take what you need. If you know someone who could make good use of it, please feel free to let them know.

🌱😂 WHAT A brilliant Gardening SESSION!
WE CAME, WE DUG, WE PLANTED… AND WE ATE CAKE! 🍰🌿
We managed to get a LOT done:
🌱 Replanted our Jerusalem artichokes from two pots alongside the ones already in the ground — then gave the whole gang a lovely blanket of woodchip mulch.
🌿 Cut back and dug out the dry bush next to the big bush.
🌱 Crumbled all the celery seeds back onto the soil, cut back the dry celery plants and used them as mulch, then watered and covered everything with woodchip. We did the same with the parsley and land cress — nothing wasted!
🌿 Dug out the dry plant next to the parsley.
🍃 Planted some apple mint beside the wildflower area.
🫘 Looked after our beans… and because we don't have enough beans yet, planted even more beans!
🥔 And then came the GIANT potatoes the kids dug up… well, giant in imagination, minuscule in reality! 🤣🥔 We’re definitely going to need a bigger dinner plate!
🪨 Sifted through black bags of slate — definitely one of the less glamorous jobs, but someone has to do it! Thanks Andrea and Robin.
🐸 And of course, we spotted some frogs along the way!
🍰 Then came the most important gardening task of all… eating delicious cake from Tiziana and having a chat and good laugh! 😂

And perhaps the best part? Young and old working side by side, sharing skills, stories, muddy hands and plenty of smiles. 💚
This is what a community garden is all about — growing things, growing friendships and giving back to our shared space.

It’s free to collect and currently has no worms inside, so it’s ready for someone to start their own little worm composting project.
