Hi Airsofters,Last Sunday's game day was hard work. It started off ok with the first scenario and gradually went downhill.
Non hit taking was the big issue. It seems to be an inherent problem in airsoft. If we have a player/players that will not follow this first rule of airsoft the impact on the day can easily spiral out of control.
Unfortunately, some players left early because of this issue and I can understand their frustration. There were, undoubtably, players not taking their hits. There were also players calling cheat when they had not hit their intended target.
Before the last game of the day we erected a target consisting of a 220 litre drum with a 18 litre container resting on top. We invited 23 players to see if they could hit the smaller container. The firing distance was approx 35 metres. Each player could take three shots. Five players hit it three times. 18 players had zero hits. Some bb's were dropping 2/3 meters short of the target.
Conclusion:- a lot of players think they can shoot the results of the target test tell a different story. If a player tells a marshal that he's hit an opposing player it's always after the fact. The marshal will speak to the player and say "were you hit?" The player says "No, did you see me get hit?" A marshal can't make a decision unless they actually see the impact.
If you've never marshalled before come and give it a go for a morning it's not as easy as you think it looks.
