As we prepare to say goodbye to Steve “Boldy”, we want to thank everyone for the incredible support shown to Sharmaine, Kaiya, Ellis, and the wider NBRFC family. Your messages and tributes show just how deeply Boldy was loved.

For those wishing to come together and celebrate his life this Friday, please note the schedule below:

12:00 PM: North Bristol RFC clubhouse opens.

12:45 PM: Live stream of the private committal service (Canford Crematorium is strictly invitation only due to capacity, but the short 15-minute committal will be broadcast live at the club).

2:00 PM: The main Service and Celebration of Life at North Bristol RFC.

Afterward, please stay at the club to share memories and come together as the rugby family he loved so much. The bar will be open, there is an extra bar outside that is cash only.

Senior Men’s Coaching Team 2026/27 🔥

Led by Harvey Skelton, we’re delighted to confirm the Senior Men’s Coaching Team for the 2026/27 season.

We’re pleased to welcome Josh back into the coaching setup, while Phil continues in his role as Assistant Coach. Craig H remains a key part of the management team, and we’re excited to welcome Craig Capel, who brings a wealth of rugby knowledge, experience and connections to support both player and coach development across the club.

We’re looking forward to seeing what this group can achieve together.

Thank You, Steve ❤️💙

As we prepare for the new season, we’d like to thank Steve Chappell, who is stepping down from his role as Chair of Rugby.

Over this past year, Steve has made a huge contribution across all sections of North, providing leadership, structure and support while helping build the foundations of the rugby pathway we continue to develop today. His commitment to the club, its players, coaches and volunteers has helped strengthen our rugby programme and shape the direction of the club.

Thankfully, Steve isn’t going far. He will continue supporting our Colts and remains heavily involved in club rugby. He is also leading the development of our 23rd team – an inclusive rugby team that will continue the vision and legacy that Boldy was so passionate about.

Thank you, Steve, for everything you’ve done, and everything still to come.

23 Teams. 1 Club 💙❤️

🔴🔵 RE-SIGNED FOR 2026/27 🔵🔴

We’re delighted to confirm that Harvey Skelton and Ellie Marston-Mulhearn have both committed to North Bristol RFC for the 2026/27 season.

Both will continue as our Senior Head Coaches while taking on expanded Pathway Lead responsibilities, helping strengthen the connection between our youth, junior and senior sections and ensuring a clear development pathway across the club.

Their passion, commitment and dedication continue to drive standards on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to see what the future holds under their leadership.

How lucky are we!

Nearly 50 years ago when I first joined North Bristol RFC, messages like this might have been written in chalk on a changing room wall. Thankfully some things have moved on, but the values that make this club special remain the same.

Having now completed my first full season as Discipline Secretary, I’d like to thank everyone across the club for their support. It has been encouraging to see the respect shown by our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters throughout the season.

Whilst we did have a small number of disciplinary matters to deal with, the overwhelming feedback from match officials has been positive, and that reflects well on everyone involved with North Bristol RFC.

As we look ahead to the new season, there are two important reminders:

🏉 Respect Match Officials
Abuse of referees or match officials, whether from players, coaches or spectators, will not be tolerated. Rugby is built on respect and we all have a responsibility to uphold those values.

🏉 Deal With Issues Early
If disciplinary matters do arise, particularly red cards, please ensure they are reported promptly. Early communication allows us to support players and manage situations effectively.

Discipline isn’t just about sanctions; it’s about protecting the culture and reputation of our club. Together, we all play a part in ensuring North Bristol remains a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to another successful season.

Remembering Steve Bold (Boldy)
1973 – 2026

Steve’s funeral service will take place at Canford Crematorium on Friday 12th June.

Due to limited capacity at the crematorium, attendance at the service itself will be by private invitation only. We kindly ask that this is respected by everyone wishing to support Steve and his family.

The service will be live streamed from 12:45pm at North Bristol RFC, with the club open from 12pm where friends, teammates and the wider rugby family are invited to gather to celebrate Steve’s life together.

The main celebration of Steve’s life will then follow at the club starting around 2pm, where family and close friends will be sharing memories of Steve, followed by food, drinks and continuing the celebration of Boldy well into the evening, exactly how he would have wanted it.

Steve wouldn’t have wanted formal dress.
Feel free to wear something rugby or North Bristol related. Number 1s, hoodies, polos or red and blue. But most importantly, just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Shorts and t-shirts would be just as much Boldy as anything else.

Family flowers only please.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the North Bristol RFC Rugby For All Fund. Steve and Sharmaine felt strongly that rugby should be accessible to everyone, and donations will help support players now and in the future.

https://sheppardfunerals.co.uk/make-a-donation/

There will also be a donation box available at the club on the day for anyone wishing to make a cash donation.

Thank you all for your love, support and understanding during this difficult time.

“Never let a win go to your head or a loss go to your heart.”
— Steve Bold (SB2)❤️
