Getting to know the grown-ups...

Something that has always been really important to me at All-Stars is getting to know the parents and grown-ups as well as I get to know the children.

Our grown-ups stay and watch the sessions, so over time you naturally get to know everyone. I love having a chat before, during and after the sessions, finding out what everyone has been up to and usually having a bit of a laugh along the way.

For me it makes a massive difference.

The better I know the grown-ups, the better I get to know the children too. A quick chat might tell me they've had a long week, they're tired, they've had a bad morning or they're just not quite themselves that day.

All of that helps me understand them and how I might approach them during the session.

I don't want All-Stars to ever feel like you turn up, do your 50 minutes and go home. I want the children AND the grown-ups to feel comfortable, relaxed and part of what we're doing.

We're a small family business and I think that personal side of it is really important.

How do we feel when an All-Star leaves us to take their next step in football?

Bittersweet! That's probably the best way to describe it.

We absolutely love having the children with us and some have been coming through our doors every weekend for a long time, so of course we're gutted when the time comes for them to move on.

But at the same time, that's exactly what we want.

For lots of our children, All-Stars is their very first experience of football. Our job is to help them enjoy it, build their confidence, learn some of the basics and hopefully give them that love of the game.

Then, when they're ready, they take that next step.

Whether that's joining a local grassroots team, moving into more structured football or simply being confident enough to try something new.

Seeing a child who might have first come to us a little nervous, shy or having barely kicked a football before, then leave us ready for their next football adventure is something we're really proud of.

We know we can't keep our All-Stars forever... and we don't want to.

If they leave us loving football, full of confidence and ready for what's next, then we've done our job.

Still doesn't mean we won't miss them though! ⚽️⭐️
