🟢Southmead U11’s VS Downend Larks U11’s🟢

It was a tough start to the season for the Southmead U11 girls who had a trip to Downend Larks as the season opener. The girls played well overall, recovering from a sluggish start to get back into the game. With no subs due to reduced numbers in the team, everyone gave their all for the entire game. Without a regular keeper, Isla and Elise played really well in an unfamiliar position, but the POTM for her relentless defending and strong tackling was Freya.

⚽ U14 GIRLS MATCH REPORT ⚽

Our U14 Girls opened their campaign against a very strong Yatton side, who ultimately took their chances and came away with a 4-2 victory.

It wasn’t our best performance, and we know there’s plenty more to come from this group, but huge credit has to go to Yatton. They’re an excellent footballing side who play a really progressive brand of passing football. They scored some superb team goals, were strong in the tackle and made it a great game of football for the neutral to watch.

For us, it’s one to learn from. There were still plenty of positives to take, and sometimes you learn more from the difficult games than the easy ones. We’ll dust ourselves down, work hard in training and go again next week. 💪

🏆 PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FLO 🏆

Another fantastic performance in the middle of the park from Flo. Calm and composed on the ball, she covered every blade of grass and, on a very hot day on a huge, rock-hard pitch, played nearly every minute.

A massive well done, Flo - picking up exactly where you left off last season! 👏⚽

First game of the season and our now U13 girls stepped up to play their first game in a higher division.
The girls played fantastic and took the lead early on with the girls playing some great football.
Downend managed to bring it back to 1-1 at half time.
Unfortunately the physicality of league 2 took its toll and we conceded a second goal. But The girls got their heads straight back in it and created lots of chances. It was an unlucky loss
But all 10 girls played fantastic and proved the team deserves to play in this league.

POTM this week is Mollie! She stepped in to an unfamiliar position as right back and absolutely smashed it, and even played a huge part in the goal scored. We hope she enjoyed playing the position as much as we did watching her! Well done Molly UTM 💚

Our Mini Ballers session is taking a short summer break this weekend, as a few of our coaches are away on holiday and others are busy with Southmead FC commitments ☀️
