First game of the season and our now U13 girls stepped up to play their first game in a higher division.
The girls played fantastic and took the lead early on with the girls playing some great football.
Downend managed to bring it back to 1-1 at half time.
Unfortunately the physicality of league 2 took its toll and we conceded a second goal. But The girls got their heads straight back in it and created lots of chances. It was an unlucky loss
But all 10 girls played fantastic and proved the team deserves to play in this league.

POTM this week is Mollie! She stepped in to an unfamiliar position as right back and absolutely smashed it, and even played a huge part in the goal scored. We hope she enjoyed playing the position as much as we did watching her! Well done Molly UTM đź’š

âš˝ U14 GIRLS MATCH REPORT âš˝

Our U14 Girls opened their campaign against a very strong Yatton side, who ultimately took their chances and came away with a 4-2 victory.

It wasn’t our best performance, and we know there’s plenty more to come from this group, but huge credit has to go to Yatton. They’re an excellent footballing side who play a really progressive brand of passing football. They scored some superb team goals, were strong in the tackle and made it a great game of football for the neutral to watch.

For us, it’s one to learn from. There were still plenty of positives to take, and sometimes you learn more from the difficult games than the easy ones. We’ll dust ourselves down, work hard in training and go again next week. 💪

🏆 PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FLO 🏆

Another fantastic performance in the middle of the park from Flo. Calm and composed on the ball, she covered every blade of grass and, on a very hot day on a huge, rock-hard pitch, played nearly every minute.

OUR FA CUP JOURNEY COMES TO AN END đź’”

A heartbreaking way to exit the competition as we draw 1-1 before eventually losing out on penalties.

But we couldn’t be prouder of our women today. 💚

From the first whistle to the last, they showed togetherness, desire and heart. Every player gave everything for the badge, and while we felt our performance deserved more, sometimes football can be cruel.

Full credit to Hereford Pegasus Ladies, who were a fantastic side with some really talented players. More importantly, they were a friendly and positive group who played the game in the right way and in the right spirit and turned up with a huge number of supporters. We wish them nothing but the best in the next round and for the season ahead.

For us, our FA Cup journey may be over, but there are so many positives to take from today and so much to build on.

Our full focus now turns to our league and local cup campaigns, with plenty still to play for across both our First Team and Reserves.

Finally, a huge thank you to our supporters who stood with us through every tackle, every shot and every single penalty today. Your support means more than you know.

A special mention to Ian and the Southmead Sunday team, who turned up in numbers to get behind our ladies. It was massively appreciated. đź‘Ź

She gave absolutely everything on the pitch, put her body on the line for the team and consistently made great decisions throughout the game.

🟢INTRODUCING OUR NEW CAPTAIN🟢

We’re delighted to announce that Leanne will be our Southmead Ladies First Team Captain for the new season!

Leanne will be supported by Molly, who will step into the role of Vice Captain. 🤝

Here’s what Martyn & Cameron, our Coach and Manager, had to say:

“Leanne is someone who leads by example every time she steps onto the pitch. She’s calm, positive and always puts the team first. She’s a player the group can look to in big moments, and with her set to be available much more regularly this season, we feel she’s absolutely the right person to take on the responsibility.

Molly gives everything for the team and sets the standards through her performances and attitude. She was our Manager’s Player of the Season last year, and that recognition says a lot about the impact she has on the team. We know she’ll be a brilliant support to Leanne and more than capable of stepping up to lead the side whenever required.

For us, captaincy isn’t just about wearing the armband. It’s about setting standards, supporting your teammates and representing the club in the right way.

We know Leanne and Molly will do exactly that.”
