Today marks an incredible milestone – 20 years of Portishead Running Club! 🏃‍♂️🎉

A huge thank you and heartfelt congratulations to all the amazing members, past and present, who have made the club what it is today. Your dedication, friendships, and shared love of running have built something truly special over the years.

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout at this morning’s Severn Bridge parkrun as well – a perfect way to celebrate together! 👏

Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the miles we’ve run, and many more years ahead. 🧡

Thank-you so much to the 61 PRC members who ran up all those hills and achieved a combined elevation of 105,000 feet (20,000 more than our target)!!! PRC has also raised £2800 for Make-A-Wish so we've enabled some critically ill children to have their wishes come true. Do please continue to share the link to our JustGiving page because it would be amazing to get that last £200 to get us over the line and meet our target! Saturday and Sunday saw 61 PRC runners hitting the hills for Make-A-Wish. Between us, we’ve achieved 105578 feet of elevation, 20,000 over our target! £2,415 has been raised so far (80% of our £3000 target). The awards won by members were as follows: Charlie Tidball⁩ managed an elevation of 6,246 feet, the highest elevation of any member, just ahead of Ed Broyd⁩. ⁨Ann Singer⁩ achieved the highest elevation of any female PRC member: 3,830 feet Sarah⁩ Hastings was just 9 feet behind!). Joana⁩ Timóteo managed 3 efforts in the mountains of Madeira and wins the most creative course award. To everyone who participated: thank-you so much! We have demonstrated our solidarity with Paula⁩ and her family and all that they are having to deal with and I know that is hugely appreciated. Well done everyone! This weekend, Portishead Running Club members will be taking to the hills to raise money for ‘Make-A-Wish’. This is an amazing charity that creates joy, happiness and magical memories through life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Whether it's starring in their own films, feeding tigers, meeting a celebrity hero, or having a bedroom redesigned just so; the wishes fulfilled are varied, personal and life-changing. A child's life shouldn't be about illness, hospitals and diagnosis - it should be about wonder, joy and hope. One of our members’ children was supported by Make-A-Wish to make treasured memories and we’re helping her to enable the charity to support other children in the same way. Starting Saturday 3rd January, our Couch to 5k programme is a 10 week plan full of supportive runners from the club guiding you through each session, many of whom have been through the Couch to 5k course themselves!
