Crumbs! I donāt know where to start!! Long post alert!!
Iām not sure where to start!!
What a wonderful weekend we had hosting our last show. Although the club was formed 30 years ago, we havenāt hosted every year. In the early days we used to borrow the equipment from Anton (Jets) and then Penny (Barkshire), before starting to invest in our own equipment, so we have been doing shows for about 20-25years with the odd gap (covid being one!)
Hugest Thank youās have to go to Sue & Damian, for the tremendous amount of work they put in behind the scenes, both before, during and after our shows. And to Sue S for being TO and sorting all the paperwork. Without these 3 people, I would have given up hosting long ago!!!
Then onto the team, who help set up and share all the ring duties over the weekend, so we all have breaks away from the ring. Again without this bunch of fabulous flyball family (including Hilary & Beth), it just wouldnāt be possible to host shows.
Thanks to all who have supported our shows over the many years ā¦
To our various Lights custodians (form the early days Dave Long, to Pete Nicholson to Ivan & Helene and anyone else Iāve missed inbetween!!!)
All the MOās who get up early to measure our dogs
To our wonderful judges (PJās, QJās & HJās) who give up their time. But in particular to Wayne & Penny who have been our HJās at least one day at virtually (if not all) our shows we have put on.
And last but not least all the BFA members who have come along to support us!
This last weekend we have had perfect racing weather, even through to presentation (last year wonāt be forgotten!) and evening entertainment! We had a lot of racing to get through on Saturday, and on Sunday there was a bit of pressure to hurry through racing, as there were a āfewā people to wanted a quick get away for a certain big football game!!!! And we managed it!!! So thank you everyone!!
Evening entertainment was a little different ā we used the teams as āGuinea Pigsā for a first & last attempt at Team Taskmaster. We have never done anything like this, so was a little unsure how it was going to pan out, but I think & hope everyone enjoyed their evening!!
We had some great stories to go with the Worst Item Received Pre show taskā¦.. Then onto Task 1 ā as a team how many words as you could make out of the letters F L Y B A L L S H O W in 3 minutes (I was amazed at how well everyone did at that!!). Task 2 We had one person from each team come out to be blindfolded, they then had to stand up closest to 55 secs. Everyone remained silentā¦.. until the Taskmaster started to put them off! Again, the concentration on faces was great! Task 3 involved 5 team members to take it in turn to put a coin on their head and drop it into a glass Below waist levelā¦ā¦ fastest team back to their seatsā¦ā¦ any dropped coins, they went to the back of the queue!! Task 4 involved a pair of team mates to hold hands. Then one held a stack of cups, while the other tried to remove the lowest cup to the top of the pile until the coloured mug was at the top. There was some amazingly fast teams, and some not so good!!
And onto task 5 ā my favouriteā¦ā¦ each team was given 10 mins to make up a dance to their phone ring tone (ok, some ring tones were a little suspect, but the dances were good!) Videoās to follow!
It was a great evening, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
Odyssey were the winners, and the losers, taking home all the āworst itemsā were one of our own Bassett teams!
As a team, Bassett Allsorts gained a 5th place in Div 6. Torpedoes gained a 3rd in Div 3, and our foundation team managed a whopping 98% success rate, and came first in their division. Well done all!!
I must thank my team for the most gorgeous hamper and the most awful photo card!! They know me well, it was full of Hawkstone cider, marmite goodies, and chillie chocolate, all to go along with some perfect reading in the form of Diddley Squat books!
My last thanks must go to Piccadilly Parties for allowing us the use of the venue.
To Rebecca Reed Photography for attending both days and putting in a huge amount of work, getting us photos for our judges presents, as well as divisional winners, and any request on the day!
To Norton Rosettes Shop for the most fab rosettes (Blue & Yellow team colours, and the 3rd colour to represent Pearl Anniversary), for all placed dogs & box loaders
And to The Scran Van for allowing us to use vouchers to supply our judges with a meal and our ring parties with drinks.
Thanks to the BFA for 30 years of fun!
It sounds like a farewell, but far from it!! We look forward to seeing everyone in the lanes at the Champs!!
