Brighton's BIG indoor bouldering centre!
(795)

Get involved with the most accessible, social and fun branch of rock climbing, no experience necessary. See our "What is bouldering?" website page for more details www.boulderbrighton.com/what-is-bouldering

Bouldering is rock climbing stripped down to its raw essentials. Leaving behind ropes and harnesses and just using climbing shoes and a bag of chalk over safety mats, your challenge is to clim

b short but tricky bouldering "problems" (a route, or sequence of moves) using balance, technique, strength, and your brain. You don't need experience of lots of expensive kit to have a go - making it really easy to get into if you've never tried it before. Every "problem" has its own solution, and to successfully climb it you need to work it out. Depending on your body shape and personal strengths, your solution could be different to the next person's. If you're tall, you might be able to reach the next hold more easily on spaced-out problems - but find yourself cramped when the route takes you into the nooks and crannies of the wall. It all evens out in the end. The key to the problem could be about how you position your body when you climb, or what order you put your feet and hands on the wall - or there might be a sneaky "toe hook" or one of countless other climbing techniques that suddenly takes the problem from impossible, to crushed. You might need to refine your technique before you can do it - or train some more and get stronger! The climbs are high enough to be exciting, but not so high that they're hugely intimidating. Using safety mats means that the risks of falling off can be managed, and leaving the ropes behind means that you are free to concentrate on the climbing, not the equipment. It's just you, the wall, and your friends on the ground egging you on.

❤️‍🔥 The Cave and Steep Corner are back open! ❤️‍🔥

Our routesetting team have been playing all day with the new shapes and angles and have a bunch of new climbs for you all to try. We're really pleased with how the new walls have come out!

Thanks to the team at for another great build, and to everyone at BB for bearing with us over the past couple of weeks while we got the job done.

We're excited to add shoes to our range in the BB shop!

We're starting off stocking the Oasi, Oasi LV and Indalo models.

To kick things off, Tenaya are going to come to us for a boot demo on Monday 29th June from 5pm where you can try those and other shoes from the Tenaya range by having a climb in them on the wall. No extra charge to try the shoes just book yourself a regular session.

The Oasi is particularly worth a look for anyone with narrow feet who struggle to fit other shoes.

🙋 Courses available 23rd and 24th June 🙋

A Foundation Coach can help new and improving climbers with the fundamental movement skills of climbing. Foundation Coaches typically work with a group of individuals and may coach underneath a more experienced Development Coach. This official Mountain Training qualification is designed to enable coaches to be more effective in coaching the fundamental movement skills of climbing. Foundation Coaches will usually be concerned with the stimulating delivery of a single session to a group of individuals.

These courses are occasionally hosted at Boulder Brighton - see the Mountain Training website for details.

Requirements for booking:

🪨 You must be at least 16 years old
🪨 You must have a genuine interest in climbing and the coaching of groups on climbing walls.
🪨 You must have at least 6 months experience of climbing on a variety of climbing walls.
🪨 You must be a member (club or individual) of a mountaineering council (BMC, Mountaineering Ireland, Mountaineering Scotland)
🪨 You must create an account on the Mountain Training system and register for the Foundation Coach qualification

*Cave area rebuild from Monday 1st June for 2 weeks*

This summer we're carrying on with our work to keep the climbing fresh and new around the centre - this year with a rebuild of the Cave area! This is one of the original walls that we opened with in 2013, and we're excited to give it a bit of a facelift.

There will still be lots of steep climbing, but instead of a single horizontal roof we'll be building in a steep barrelled wall starting at about 75 degrees overhanging, with a couple of angle changes to give our routesetters lots of creative options and our climbers lots of varied blocs!

This means that, starting Monday 1st June, the back end of the right hand side of the centre will be largely out of action for a period of about two weeks. The New Slab and Bullseye Slab areas should remain open, but the Steep Corner and Cave will be out of bounds. We'll be open as usual, but there will be more limited booking availability and the space will probably feel a little busier than usual.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, but really hope the final results will be worth it! Please bear with us over the period.

We unpacked a big delivery of new holds from , and at XIII - some are already up on the wall, look out for more being introduced over the next few sets.

Always seems a shame to get them chalky when they look this good on the ground! 😍
