Brighton Swimming School

Brighton Swimming School Since 1976, our 20M pool has helped generations build water confidence, and a love for swimming All our staff are friendly and enthusiastic.

Our teachers are ASA or STA qualified and every session is overseen by a supervisor and two lifeguards. Lower ability classes have a ratio of one instructor to three children and no class has more than nine students. Our lessons take place at Brighton Swimming Centre (formerly St. Mary's Hall)

We offer group lessons for children from the age of 12 months to 17 years old as well as 1 to 1 lessons

. We also offer lessons for adults of all abilities in a relaxed and friendly environment and for those with an adventurous nature there is our Sea Swimming programme. "The staff are enthusiastic and encouraging and I have seen vast improvements in both of my daughters swimming"

The finalists for the 2026 Brighton & Hove Business Awards are in.

And drumroll please... 🥁🎉

We're absolutely delighted to hear that Brighton Swimming Centre has been named a finalist for this year's Community Hero Award 💙

Made possible by our incredible team who help so many of our local community become stronger swimmers, living by the sea.

This award has been judged by a panel of experienced business leaders from across the city, and we're super proud to be up there with the best of Brighton and Hove's community-minded businesses.

A massive thank you to our team, our swimmers and everyone who's part of our Brighton Swimming Centre story.

Did you know the lifeguard service at Brighton and Hove beaches is seasonal?

This weekend we said thank you and farewell to our brilliant Brighton & Hove beach lifeguard team, who've patrolled our beaches to keep everyone safe all summer.

The beaches won't be unwatched, though. A smaller Council Seafront team, also trained as lifeguards will continue to patrol on quad bikes and respond to water incidents.

But fewer visitors doesn't mean a safer sea. As autumn and winter weather sets in, the water gets more dangerous, not less.

So before you go to the beach:

✅ Check the tides, online or from the seafront office
✅ Check the wind speed and direction on any weather app
✅ Check the waves on apps like Surfline

NEVER swim alone.

If you see someone in difficulty, NEVER enter the water to help them. Keep your eyes on them, throw something buoyant if you can, and call 999 for the coastguard.

Back to School means our new Autumn term timetable starts soon 🙌

With our popular group and 1:1 professional swimming lessons for kids starting 07 September.

Helping kids become stronger swimmers, and improve their confidence in the water in our 20m heated indoor pool.

Every session runs at a 4:1 teacher ratio, with STA qualified coaches, a poolside supervisor, and a maximum of 8 children per class.
