💛 The fourth trimester — the longest and most important trimester.
It’s beautiful yet brutal.

✨ The advantages of this time -
this is when your bond with your baby grows.
⭐️You learn each other’s rhythms.
⭐️Your body produces everything your baby needs to survive and thrive.

When you slow down, rest, and recover, you give both yourself and your baby the best start.

💔 But here’s the reality for some -
we live in a society that doesn’t honour this sacred time.
⚠️You’re expected to “bounce back” within weeks.
⚠️You scroll through IG and see flat stomachs, women back in their jeans, glowing with perfect hair and makeup.

And you may question why don’t I look or feel like that?

‼️Here’s the truth — your body has just grown, birthed, and is now sustaining another human being.

🌿Recovery takes time.
🌿Feeding can be exhausting.
🌿Sleep is disrupted.
🌿Your emotions are stretched.

None of this means you’re failing.

💛 The fourth trimester is not about bouncing back.
It’s about healing. Bonding. Learning. And slowly finding your new rhythm.
Be gentle with yourself. You are doing one of the most important jobs in the world — and your body, your heart, and your mind deserve patience and care.

💔 The NICU Journey is never forgotten ….

September is Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Awareness Month 2026 and it’s crucial to understand how this experience profoundly impacts parents.

💥While it’s a place of hope and healing, the NICU journey is filled with emotional ups and downs for parents and families.

🌟Imagine the joy and anticipation of pregnancy, suddenly met with the anxiety and fear of a NICU stay. Parents often experience a rollercoaster of emotions, from excitement to worry, sadness to hope, all in a single day.

🌟The constant beeping of monitors, the sight of wires and tubes, and the uncertainty of their baby’s condition can lead to overwhelming stress. Parents may struggle with feelings of helplessness and frustration.

🌟NICU parents often face the fear of the unknown. They may not fully understand the medical jargon or what the future holds for their child. This uncertainty can be incredibly distressing.

🌟Parents may feel a sense of blame for their baby’s condition, even when it’s not their fault. But this can feel a heavy burden.

🌟NICU stays can be financially draining. The costs of medical care, time off work, and other expenses can create significant financial stress for parents.

🌟The NICU journey can take a toll on parents’ mental health. Anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are not uncommon among NICU parents.

On 💚 let’s keep raising awareness and show support to the parents who have experienced this journey. You are not alone 💚

🔎The hidden trap that’s keeping you stuck in survival mode

Have you ever wondered why, no matter what you try, you still feel “on edge”?

🌀You may unknowingly live in a loop of survival mode — constantly scanning for danger, replaying events, or bracing for something to go wrong.

This isn’t weakness.

It’s your nervous system doing its best with what it learned during moments of overwhelm or trauma.

The trap?
Believing that feeling safe comes after you fix everything.

In truth, it begins when you start sending your body gentle signals of calm, even for a few seconds at a time.

Tiny steps count.
A deep breath.
A walk.
A moment of stillness.
Your nervous system will notice. 💛

Be with your feelings.
Not to examine them.
Not to fix them.
Not to suppress them.

Just observe.
To inhale.
To let them be without resistance.

Feelings are indicators, not troubles.
They’re your nervous system trying to communicate.
When you give yourself space, gently and safely,
the intensity often subsides.

The body feels supported.
You don’t have to hasten into “feeling better.”
Sometimes the kindest thing is simply
to stay with the present moment.

I wasn’t prepared for this part of being a mum. 🤍
I hear this so often in my work.
Not necessarily “I don’t love my baby.”
But…
“I didn’t expect to feel like this.”
“I didn’t expect to be so anxious.”
“I didn’t expect to feel so overwhelmed.”
“I didn’t expect my birth to affect me this much.”

Because becoming a mum can bring so much joy, but it can also bring a huge amount of change, responsibility, expectation and vulnerability.

And when your pregnancy or birth has been difficult or traumatic, your experience of motherhood can feel more complicated.

Sometimes your body is still carrying what happened.
You might feel on edge.
You might find certain memories or conversations triggering.
You might feel angry, tearful or disconnected.
You might question yourself as a mum.

And then the complexity of guilt…
“I have a healthy baby. Why am I struggling?”
But having a baby you love doesn’t mean you can’t also be struggling with what happened to you.
Both can exist. 🤍

As a therapist and birth trauma specialist, I work with many who are trying to make sense of that experience — the birth they had, the birth they didn’t have, and everything that came afterwards.

You don’t have to minimise it.
You don’t have to be grateful enough to make the difficult feelings disappear.
And you don’t have to simply “move on”.
Sometimes you need a safe space to talk about what happened, understand why your body and nervous system are responding the way they are, and gently begin to reconnect with yourself.
If this feels like you, you’re not alone. 🌿
There is support available.

Notice it. 👀

When you hear the word “should” — or notice yourself saying it — what happens in your body?

Do you feel it around your jaw? 😬
A tightening in your chest?
A heaviness in your shoulders?
Or perhaps your thoughts suddenly become louder? 💭

I should be…
I should have…
Life should look like…
I should be doing…
Sometimes “should” carries a lot of pressure. 🫶

So, just for today, notice it.
And when you catch it, take a breath. 🌿
Ask yourself:
“What if it didn’t have to be this way?”
What if you could loosen your grip on how you think life should be, should look, or what you should do?
Not because you don’t care about what you want. 🤍

But because there might be another way forward — one you can’t see yet.
Take a breath. 🌬️
Let go of the SHOULD.
And make a little more room for what is. ✨

Today is .

For anyone who has experienced pregnancy, baby or child loss, grief can be an invisible weight that you carry every day.

Your grief may feel complex, tangled and unseen.
The grief of losing a pregnancy you desperately wanted.
The grief of losing your child, no matter how long you had them.
The grief of the future you imagined together.
The grief of everything that changed because of your loss.

And this grief can affect mothers, fathers, partners, siblings, grandparents, family and friends.

You may be laughing, working, parenting, making plans and creating new memories — while carrying a loss that has changed you forever.

There is no timeline for this grief.
There is no right way to grieve.
And you don’t have to “get over it”.

We aren’t getting over it.
We’re learning how to carry it. 🤍

Today, I’m holding space for every baby, every child, every pregnancy that was lost, and every person whose life has been changed by that loss.

Your baby mattered.
Your child mattered.
Your pregnancy mattered.
And your grief matters. 🤍

My sessions offer a safe, compassionate space where you can gently process the grief you are experiencing.

There is no expectation to ‘move on’ or to have the right words. We go at your pace, making space for your story, your feelings and everything that your loss means to you.

Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, you deserve a space where it can be spoken about and where you feel truly heard.
