Greenkeeper’s Tips Episode One - Pitchmarks🚨

It can seem like the easiest thing to do, but we see so many people fix their pitchmarks incorrectly, or not fix them at all!!! Here, our Head Greenkeeper, Jason Sarna, gives a quick tutorial on how to correctly fix your pitchmarks, so you can keep the greens playing and looking as good as they can be!!

Regardless of the awful weather of late, our team have been hard at work making improvements to the course!

The removal of heavy overgrown bushes and thrash on our signature drop hole sixth has been the latest work completed, and wow the difference is phenomenal!

A big thank you to our brilliant Greenkeepers and for all the hard work last week and making such a brilliant difference to our course!⛳️

The course is closed today due to flooding. We have had 6.5 inches of rain so far in January which is the highest amount recorded for a few years!

As I am sure you are all aware, we will do our best to keep the course open throughout this extended wet spell. This will most likely mean there will be times of carry only and some temporary greens!

Last Sunday luckily stayed dry for our annual Turkey Trot scramble which was a day throughly enjoyed by all, especially with the Christmas themed baps that were tucked into afterwards!🎄 Winning on the day with an impressive score of 53 was Dave Wilcock Jason Tighe, Jack Perrin and Clive Harman. Captain Adam Blackburn also ran a raffle which raised over £400 for Alzheimer’s UK, his chosen charity for the year. Many thanks to and RC Secker Butchers for supporting the raffle and providing such brilliant prizes!!🍰

Our annual Ladies’ Christmas Hamper 13-Hole Competition luckily avoided the horrible weather last week and was a day thoroughly enjoyed by all! Susan Wright narrowly won the day on count-back with Celine Byrne coming second, as both ladies recorded 24 points. Mandy Roberts came third with a close 22 points and Ann Harvey claimed fourth with 19 points. Many thanks to Ladies President Judy Mckemy who provided the food for the event!🏌️‍♀️💐🎂

Last week saw the annual Captain’s Drive-in where the club welcomed incoming captain Adam Blackburn and Joseph Fairclough who is continuing as Junior Captain. Both hit superb drives, although no one saw where they went! The event followed outgoing captain Peter Groves putting out on the ninth green where he made a pretty impressive 2-putt. Thank you to all those who came along, especially with the horrible conditions and morning competition being cancelled, and to for putting on a brilliant buffet after the ceremony. We wish Joseph and Adam all the best for the next year🏌️

Yesterday was the Captains Charity event with 44 players playing a 3 from 4 rumble. Congratulations to the winners Ian Burton, Alex Burton, Clive Robinson and Mike Salisbury with 61 points. It was also an opportunity to present some major trophies from the season.
