🏏Cricket Week 2026🏏

30th June - 4th July

The week consists of T20’s, 45 over league cricket, fun music and England’s knockout game against DR Congo.

It kicks off tonight with an inter-club T20.

Come down and enjoy a full week of cricket at the Rec!

Monthly roundup for May!

Saturday 1st XI
Played 5, Won 3, Lost 2. After a tough start, the 1s bounced back with 3 consecutive wins to climb back into mid table. Robbie Mac and skipper Jack French both scored two half centuries, while Alfie Kemp hit his first Saturday fifty against Stowupland.

Saturday 2nd XI
Played 5, Won 1, Lost 4. Results have been tough, but there have been some standout performances, with Haider Hamdani and Josh Hunt both scoring fifties, and Haider claiming the club’s first 5-wicket haul of the season.

Sunday XI
Played 5, Won 3, Lost 2. A strong start, with our colts making a huge impact. The 9-wicket win over Great Bentley was a highlight, while James Green scored his maiden half century against Ardleigh.

Sunday T30 XI
Played 2, Lost 2. Defeats to Harwich and Colchester & East Essex, but plenty of positives as several colts made their senior cricket debuts.

🌟 Special shoutout to Daisy Kemp, who scored an incredible 95 for Essex U14s last week. A superstar in the making. Well done, Daisy! 🏏👏

And just like that the 2026 Cricket Season is here🏏

With 2 Saturday teams, 2 Sunday teams and 2 new captains, Brightlingsea Cricket Club are ready to go.

The season starts this weekend with the 1st XI travelling to Worlington and the Sunday XI hosting Abberton.

We can’t wait to get started and have cricket back at the Rec, come down to support all our teams in action this season🏏

There is minimum order of 12 so nothing will happen until we get to that number. Payments will be by bank transfer. I will contact you about that once we have all orders in. Closing date 21st March 2026. There is a 6 week lead time from order so they should be with us by May

Postponement of AGM

The AGM has been postponed.

The new date is Tuesday 10th February 2026.

We will post the start date closer to the time. It will be at Brightlingsea Cricket Club around 7pm

Subject: Invitation to Join the Trustee Board – Chair and Treasurer Roles

Dear All,

Brightlingsea Cricket Club is writing to invite expressions of interest from all who may wish to join the Club’s Trustee Board and help shape the future of the Club.

As part of our commitment to strong governance, continuity and long-term sustainability, we are seeking members who would be willing to be considered for the voluntary trustee roles of Chair and/or Treasurer.

Trustees play a vital role in overseeing the management, finances and strategic direction of Brightlingsea Cricket Club, ensuring that the Club continues to operate in line with its charitable objectives, Constitution and the best interests of its members and the wider community.

The Chair provides leadership to the Trustee Board, supports effective decision-making and ensures the Board operates in a well-governed and inclusive manner.

The Treasurer oversees the Club’s financial affairs, helping to ensure appropriate financial controls, accurate reporting and the long-term financial stability of the Club.

These roles are voluntary and fully supported. Previous experience as a trustee is not essential; what matters most is a willingness to contribute time, skills and commitment to the continued success of Brightlingsea Cricket Club.

Those who wish to be considered for either role are invited to submit an expression of interest by contacting [email protected]

Nominations will be formally proposed and finalised at the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 14th January 2026
