💜🦇 Brighouse Bats Match Report 🦇💜

Our final league game of the season saw Brighouse Bats take on Aireborough Belters Blue, and what a game it was to finish our campaign.

The final score ended Aireborough Belters Blue 18.5 - 12 Brighouse Bats, but the scoreline doesn't truly reflect the attitude, effort and quality shown by the Bats throughout the match.

From the very start, our fielding was organised, disciplined and full of energy. The team worked together brilliantly, communicating well and backing each other up across the field. Aireborough were an excellent side, demonstrating why they deserved to finish top of the league this season.

Their experience and organisation shone through, and they were worthy winners on the day. A huge congratulations to them from everyone at Brighouse Bats.

Special mentions go to Daisy, Danielle, Rox, Kennedy, Laura and Seosha, who all bagged a rounder!

Our Umpire's Player of the Match went to our very own skipper, Daisy, and it was thoroughly deserved. Her communication, leadership and encouragement throughout the game kept the team focused and positive, setting the standard from the first ball to the last.

There were some standout moments in the field that deserve a mention. Lauren produced a brilliant catch at the back from a sky high height. (Get under it!)

Then there was Holly's incredible one-handed catch at backstop, reacting in a split second to a backwards hit and somehow managing to pluck it out of the air at an angle.

The Coach's Player of the Match goes to Kennedy. Week after week, Kennedy sweeps that huge area clean better than Cinderlla and her pin point throws are continuously some of the best. It was another excellent performance and fully deserving of recognition. And of course thank you for sorting food for the team afterwards ❤️🍛

A huge well done to everyone involved. The score may not have gone our way, but the performance, attitude and teamwork on display were something to be proud of. 💜🦇 ⚾️

LEAGUE MATCH REPORT 💜⚾️🦇

Bats headed into a very wet home fixture against Wildcats, despite the slippery conditions, the game went ahead - although the slipperage did mean we had to move the pitch after the 1st innings - (the roley poley video to follow, which explains why)

The score might not have gone our way, but every single Bats player should be absolutely buzzing with their performance tonight. The effort, communication, determination and teamwork were brilliant from start to finish. 💜
🌟 Coaches POM - well...
Every player played their hearts out tonight, and there were so many moments worth shouting about.
Emma – Those floating, one-handed catches you pull off with such grace are class! 👏 And even bagged yourself a cheeky rounder!
Jo – That 2-metre barrier! 💪 And some seriously class hits.
Ken – Your hits were outstanding. Getting caught out was so unlucky, but your fielding deep was just as impressive, stopping some balls that were already looking like half rounders!
Laura – Swapping positions, absolutely nailing it and somehow managing to get everywhere! Always a great hitter and tonight was no different.
Seosha – Your hits were fu***ng fab again! But stepping into a position you weren't familiar with and absolutely making it work was brilliant.
Lauren – Fielding was spot on, as always. 👌 keep doing you, you've got it everytime.
Sarah – AMAZING. The best example of a barrier there is! Which is exactly why you play where you play.
Shaz – You absolutely owned that area. Nothing was getting past you! 🔥
Rox – Perfect bowling tonight, bagging a few rounders along the way. And then teaming up with Holly at ball 17 to get FIVE additional rounders between you to keep the game going! 💪🔥
And then there's Holly. ❤️
As step-in captain for Daisy, you were absolutely brilliant tonight. You kept going, grabbed that additional rounder as last player standing, communicated brilliantly and led like a trooper - all while carrying a knee injury!
You were my Coaches' POM tonight and thoroughly deserved it. 👏
You all stayed composed and accurate tonight. Hold your heads high.

One of the highlights tonight has to be when we had a sub arrive slightly late and Holroyd had to step up for two bats… with the full team's “DON'T F**K UP!” support behind 🤣💪

A huge well done to Wildcats captain Heidi, who was chosen as Umpires' POM. Very well deserved - your organisation was brilliant! 👏
We also exchanged team gifts tonight, with Griff representing the Wildcats and Holly representing the Bats. 💜

A massive well done to both teams for getting through a challenging, wet game and putting on such a great display.

⚾️ Brighouse Bats vs Thackley Phoenix ⚾️

A great evening of friendly rounders as the Bats travelled to newly formed Thackley Phoenix - and what a team they are! 🔥

Despite being a new team, Phoenix certainly didn’t look it. They were composed throughout, showed some fantastic batting and you can really tell they’ve been putting the training in.

With 18 Phoenix players available, we split the 21-ball innings into two separate games, giving everyone the chance to get involved and enjoy the evening.

🏆 Thackley Phoenix POMs:
⭐ Hannah - first ever game and some brilliant hits!
⭐ Zara - a brilliant, fast-paced rounder in the second game! 🔥
🏆 Brighouse Bats POM:
👑 Skipper Daisy - scoring 3 consecutive rounders in the second game! What a way to lead from the front! ⚾️

💜🦇⚾️League Match Report - Brighouse Bats vs Horsforth Hawks ⚾️🦇💜

A tough game for the Bats tonight against a strong Horsforth Hawks side, with the final score finishing Brighouse Bats 11.5 – 19.5 Horsforth Hawks.

Despite the result, the Bats can be incredibly proud of their performance. We fielded with composure, worked hard as a team and never gave up. Unfortunately, we just couldn't stop some of Horsforth's big hitters.

Coaches POM goes to Captain, Daisy, whose support on the field was outstanding. With JoJo battling through an injury while bowling, Daisy was everywhere, covering extra ground, backing up the field and leading by example.
Congratulations also to Georgia from Horsforth Hawks, who was deservedly named the Umpires' Player of the Match.

Rounders were scored by Holly, Lauren, Emma, Shaz and JoJo. Huge well done, a couple of caught ours too for Sarah Marshall abd Holly!

🎉 £232 raised for Women's Health Matters! 💜

Firstly, thank you to our affiliated club, Brighouse Sports Club for hosting an inflatable game of rounders .. without doubt one of the funniest things ever seen!

A massive thank you also to The Sun Inn, Lightcliffe, one of our fantastic sponsors, for hosting an amazing Music Bingo Night. It was a brilliant evening, with plenty of laughs, some very questionable singalongs, and a great atmosphere throughout.

Together, these two events raised £232 for Women's Health Matters. Every pound makes a difference, and we're so grateful to everyone who came along, took part, donated, and supported us.

The Brighouse Bats are passionate about supporting this fantastic charity, and we'll continue finding new ways to raise money throughout the year. Whether it's a small event or a big one, every opportunity counts.
