🥋 This Week’s Theme of The Week🥋

Following on from last week’s focus on our 11 main strikes, this week we’re moving on to our blocks.

We’ll be working through our 10 basic blocks, looking at which blocks can be used at different heights and positions, and how we can adapt them to suit the situation.

Another great way to develop our understanding of distance, positioning and timing within Goju Ryu.

We’ll be utilising movement and blocks to help improve our positioning, making sure we’re in the right place at the right time to make our techniques more effective.

Just a reminder that although the schools may be closed for the summer holidays, Junboku Karate Academy is open as usual!

Keep your training going, stay active over the summer, and continue working towards your goals. There's no need to take a break from your karate!

🥋 This Weeks Theme of the Week 🥋

This week we're building on last week's training as we move into limb manipulation.

We'll be focusing on the direction an opponent's limb is travelling and learning how to use that movement to our advantage. Instead of working against force, we'll be utilise it to improve our ABCs – Avoid, Block, Counter – making our responses more efficient, controlled, and effective.

Whether you're looking to improve your self-defence, timing, or understanding of Goju-Ryu principles, this is a great week to get involved.

Schools may be out for the summer, but the dojo is still open! Keep your training going, continue your progress, and make the most of the holidays by getting on the mats.
