🏏U11 GIRLS RESULT🏏

Vicki Wood brings us up to speed with last Wednesday’s game for our U11 Girls side.

🏏 Broughton 243 lose to Outcasts 272 🏏

We won the toss and elected to bowl first. Nancy got us off to a great start with a direct dismissal in the 1st over. The 2nd wicket was also bowled by Nancy, another precise direct dismissal. The 3rd wicket fell to Evie, again superbly clean bowled.

Our bowlers faced strong batters but fielding was efficient with all players engaged and supporting each other.

Minnie led from behind the stumps, assisted by Elsie in the field. Erin, Katie, Connie and Elsie also bowled economically and we held Outcasts to 272 runs.

Batting commenced with all batters striving for runs, communication was good and players made great decisions, we conceded no ROs.

Our most successful batting partnership was our Captain, Minnie, and Connie, making her hardball debut. Connie took great instruction from her captain, faced a number of bowlers with determination and secured some runs 🤩

We concluded on 243 runs, Such a good performance from BCC U11 Girls facing strong opposition 😊.

🏏FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW🏏

Friday night across the UK, welcome to the weekend and welcome along to Fathers Day weekend, which sees 2 of our senior sides are in action.

It’s a first weekend off of the season for our 1st XI, which is ideal as half the team are on a certain someone’s stag do in Salou, rest assured they’re no doubt having a good time, and will all be fit as a fiddle in time for next weekends home game against Bracebridge Heath.

So the only side in action tomorrow are our 2nd XI, and Sean Clixby’s side will be looking to make it five wins in a row in the league, having not lost since matchday 2.

Making the short trip to the Rec for this one are Barton Town 2s, and skipper Clixby has been forced into 4 changes from the side that rather epically bowled out the opposition in a spell that saw all 10 wickets fall for just 14 runs. Ben Clixby, Brett Fish, Matt Gill and Reuben Kelly all make way for Paul Clark, Thomas Clixby, Alex Heath and Neil Simpson.

If you fancy supporting the lads then why not make the trip up to the Rec and see how they get on, as with every league match it’s a 12.30pm start, and this week the forecast is set fair.

On Fathers Day our Sunday 3rd XI are back in North Lindsey League action this weekend as they make the short trip to Hibaldstow 2s for their latest Division Two fixture.

Sean Clixby comes in to lead the side this week, which sees 4 changes from the side that lost to Outcasts in the Cup last Sunday, as Clixby, Reuben Kelly, Nathan Martinson and Martin Wilson come in for Sam Benson, Sam Hayton, Neil Simpson and Harry Wiley.

If you can join us at Hibaldstow on Sunday please do, as with every Sunday match it’s a 1.00pm start, and this week the forecast is set nice and warm.

As ever we are indebted to our loyal corps of sponsors, and this weekend we thank Allseas Global Logistics for their big match sponsorship of this weekends 2nd XI game.

All that’s left to say is go well to the lads and here’s hoping for a set of positive results!

🏏SENSATIONAL SUPER 8S🏏

Vicki Wood reports on a quite remarkable game of cricket from Tuesday night.

Outcasts won the toss and elected to bat first.

Bowling this evening were Alice, Poppy, Millie, Daisy and Gail.

The 1st wicket fell to Poppy, batter dismissed for LBW, and the 2nd fell on Poppy’s very next bowl with a wonderful catch by Sofia, wearing the gloves behind the stumps.

The 3rd was bowled by Daisy with a solid catch by Alice and the 4th was caught and bowled by Alice. On the next bowl, Alice took the 5th with an athletic catch from Daisy in the field. The 6th was bowled by Gail, thrown in by Katy and RO by Gail and the 7th was again bowled by Gail, and our Captain took another RO!

Fielding was super tight, great work by Minnie and today’s WK, Sofia. The energy and camaraderie in the field was very impressive.

Batting commenced with Katy opening, partnered by Millie, and we witnessed a dominant display- Katy faced 12 bowls, crucified the boundary 8 times and, having scored 33 not out, retired, as per the Lincs 8s format. Sofia stepped up to partner Millie, 2 extras were bowled and the job was done in just over 2 overs!

Massive credit to Katy, this was a fantastic batting performance, but this match featured 8 talented young female Broughton cricketers and we cannot wait for the next match! 🤩

A big thank you to John Pembs Motors Ltd for their continued support.

🏏JUNIOR INTER-CLUB GAME🏏

Julia Towers reports:

On a sunny Sunday morning, our players took part in an exciting inter-club cricket match that showcased enthusiasm, teamwork, and a real willingness to learn. With a combined total of 83 runs scored and 13 wickets taken, there was plenty of action and many reasons to celebrate.

What made the performance even more impressive was that several of the players were making their match debut, with some experiencing their very first hour of cricket. Anna and Connie settled into the team brilliantly, putting into practice the skills they had just learnt in training and showing great enthusiasm and confidence throughout the game. A special mention goes to little Connie, whose energy between the wickets was outstanding as she ran hard and helped add valuable runs to the team’s total.

A warm welcome back to Joey, who quickly demonstrated that he remains a force on the cricket field with some impressive batting. A guest appearance from Nina ensured he was kept honest throughout his innings, creating some great competition and entertainment for players and spectators alike.

In the field, Arvit displayed excellent awareness, helping to keep the opposition’s scoring opportunities to a minimum through smart positioning and decision-making. Elliot also made a significant contribution with some accurate throw-ins, including a superb direct hit that resulted in a run out.

With the bat, Declan and Alex showed confidence and positive intent, contributing valuable runs for their team. As the match reached its closing stages, Lucy and Katie demonstrated great composure under pressure, batting sensibly and calmly to help steer their side to victory.

The coaches were especially pleased with the way all players supported one another, communicated positively, and embraced the challenge of match play. For a group containing several newcomers and first-time cricketers, the standard of effort, attitude, and teamwork on display was exceptional. Most importantly, everyone enjoyed themselves, learned new skills, and contributed to a fantastic morning of cricket.

🏏SUMMARY OF SUPER 8S SUNDAY🏏

Vicki Wood brings us bang up to speed with how our Super 8s side got on on Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1
Louth 280 beat. Broughton 271

We won the toss and elected to bowl first with Alice, Millie, Poppy, Connie and Gail all bowling. The 1st wicket fell to Connie, a lovely direct dismissal. The 2nd was bowled by Poppy - bails air bound and the 3rd, bowled by Connie and taken by Minnie with a fantastic skier catch! The 4th wicket was expertly bowled by Alice for LBW.

Minnie was outstanding behind the stumps, with very strong bowlers. Fielding was effective with acrobatics from Lizzie protecting her boundary.

Batting commenced with Izzy and Minnie running many 1s, followed by Poppy and Millie who continued the run chase, Poppy smashing 2 x 4s and Millie striking 1 x 4. Then came Alice and Connie with Alice finding the boundary 3 times. Finally, Lizzie and Gail who continued the run chase and were very unlucky to fall just 10 runs short of the target.

Batting communications and running was strong, this was a great, close match.

GAME 2
Saxilby 217 lost to Broughton 311

We won the toss, put Saxilby into bat and the wickets fell like dominoes! Alice took the 1st, on the 1st bowl, with a great RO from Poppy, 15 yds out, followed by the 2nd, directly dismissed by Alice, also in the 1st over. The 3rd was again a direct dismissal, taken by Connie, and then Poppy took the 4th, clean bowled.

The 5th was bowled by Gail and a confident catch by Alice, and the 6th, bowled by Connie, and caught by Minnie, her 2nd skier of the day! 🤩 The 7th and 8th were more direct dismissals from Poppy and the 9th, bowled by Millie, caught by Connie. The 10th bowled by Poppy and caught by Alice, followed by the 11th, bowled by Alice with a superb catch from Millie. Finally, the 12th, LBW, bowled by Alice.

We held Saxilby to 217 runs in a dominant bowling display.

Izzy and Minnie batted with strength with Izzy on 18 runs, top run scorer in this match. Millie and Poppy ran some 2s and added to the total. Connie and Alice continued to smash the runs with Lizzie and Gail stepping up as the final pair. All 4 batting pairs contributed almost the same number of runs and we concluded on 311.

We secured a comfortable win with 2 performances to be proud of today. Every player made a strong contribution, very well done to all involved 😁 and a big thank you to John Pembs Motors for their continued support.
