A very productive first session with new student Rob Mackay this afternoon.
As a well established golfer with a scratch handicap, as you would expect Rob already had some great traits to his swing. The focus in the lesson was to keep it simple and that’s what we did!
Like most golfers, Rob’s hand path in his takeaway tended to vary. The ideal feeling is that the hands move inwards as the club head stays out in front. In the photos the yellow cane is a good reference point. As you can see in the before takeaway position Rob’s hands move towards the cane whereas in the after picture the hands have worked inwards and the club head is in a much easier position to complete the backswing as we see in the second photo.
Better connection of the lead arm on the chest allows Rob to get much better hand depth at the top of the swing, resulting in the left arm being much closer to his shoulder plane. Instant success!
Looking forward to working with Rob in the coming months where our focus will shift towards the coaching
