UPDATE/Statement 25th May 2026.

We would firstly like to apologise for the lengthy delay with this update but it has been a very difficult and time consuming 6/12 months.

Our first choice relocation site is still Rocky Lane ( which is 7.5 miles away from Dudley Wood Road, not 14 miles as someone mentioned on another site.)

The land owner is still very much interested in having us there. The investor is still very much interested. There was a rumour that our investor is American and he has pulled out. This is not the case. He is very much English and still on board. We wonder where that rumour came from 🤔

The stumbling block here is Wyre Forest Council has rejected the pre app and will not support it. The cost now involved to take this forward to the next level is quite considerable. However to be fair to them they did say they would have a look to see if a more suitable site could be found in their Borough. 4 sites were identified but after spending some time investigating these sites they have now been ruled out for one reason or another.

A second site of interest has always been Wassel Grove, ( only 4 miles from Dudley Wood ) this land is already designated as sports land with planning approval in the past for a stadium and lighting. We have been in contact with the owners over the years and most recently because the previous tenants lease has now expired. However the owners have not decided what they want to do with the land going forward although they are aware of our interest for speedway.

Thirdly the talk of speedway being incorporated along side a motocross site in Sandwell is still only in the feasibility study stage and talks have been on going with a Labour Councillor. However since the local by-elections and with Reform getting in we may have to start the process all over again.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Trust board and in particular Neil Saunders in his lead taking talks forward.

It was interesting to hear what Paul Tromans said at the Trust AGM regarding Reform and his desire to get Cradley back.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Paul in his success in becoming Councillor for Cradley and Old Hill in the local by-elections.

Also interesting to hear what Nigel Tolley said at the AGM about spiralling costs to build and run a speedway team in todays ever changing world. Speedway now couldn't afford to stand alone and would need a combined venture with other activities. Thanks Nigel for your attendance and input at the Trust meeting.

All food for thought.
Looks like we are up against it, however we will continue to explore any possibilities going forward.

Kind regards
HNGS Ltd.

Further to our previous statement, Heathens Next Generation Speedway Ltd along with the Trust board can confirm that we have finally received a response from the relevant Local Authority, following the submission of a pre planning application and face to face discussion with Planning Officers held on October 15th.

The response is disappointingly brief and short on content but the bottom line is that the Local Authority will not support speedway at the site in question. This does not mean that we cannot proceed with a full Planning Application; however, it does mean that to do so will be more difficult and costly. We are in the process of discussing further with our Planning Consultants and will issue a further statement when more information is available.

In the meantime, HNGS Ltd would like to wish all supporters best wishes for Christmas and New Year.

Further to previous posts concerning the Planning situation in respect of the proposed new site for the Club, representatives from HSST and HNGS Ltd, together with our Planning Consultant, attended a pre application meeting with Planning Officers from the Local Authority on 15 October. They were very considerate to our proposal but had some concerns, particularly about structures being erected in the Green Belt. The Local Authority officers agreed to advise us in writing of the issues they have; we can then consider further as to whether their concerns can be addressed and at what potential cost.

An update will follow when further information becomes available.

Thank you all for your continued support and interest.

If anyone is wondering how we are getting on with the pre planning application or waiting for updates just look at the Swindon Speedway planning application from the Wiltshire Council website.

They are infront of us and their full planning app has gone in, where we are still at the pre app stage.

Their application has 44 files attached including all the consultants reports, statements etc. Download them and have a look at what's involved.

We said it wasnt going to be easy.

Sure you have all heard by now.
Great news to bring our sport into the headlines.

Harry Redknapp has landed a shock new management job and has vows to ‘hit the big time again’ 🤯

The former football manager has decided to get fully behind the resurgence in his favourite motorsport and has vowed to help make speedway great again 🏁

Redknapp has joined the management team of Speedway Futures Ltd, who hold the sporting, commercial and media rights for speedway in the UK and he is delighted to see the action-packed sport in the headlines again 🏍️

🗣️ “I watch it on TNT Sports and its fantastic entertainment. These guys are going from 0-60 quicker than a Formula One car, with no brakes and they risk life and limb every time they race.

"“It really is breathtaking motorsport on your doorstep and it’s the same all over the country. The sport definitely suffered with the demise of World of Sport, but it's back on the rise without a doubt and anything I can do to help that I definitely will."

Good News / Bad News

As you know it's been 30 years trying to get our beloved club back and have a home track of our own.

The good news so far,

1, we have an investor.

2, we have a land owner willing to lease land to us for the purpose of our home.

3, together with the Trust appointed consultant's to work on our behalf.

4 The Pre- Planning Application has now been submitted.

5, talks are ongoing with the council and locals and meetings set up to air any concerns.

THE BAD NEWS

Only one man at the moment seems to be objecting to the project. UNFORTUNATELY HE IS ONE OF OUR OWN.

Please see local pages and his response.

Update.

Just a few facts for transparency and clarification.

1, it's been a very difficult and hard 12 months working on the planning application preperation. Our consultants are very professional and getting us to cover every eventuality that the Council may request upon the application.
We are 99% there but we can't submit the application until the consultants are happy with it, we are guided by them.

2, The land owner is still with us and supports us in our quest for a speedway facility on his land. However legal documents will not be signed until its clear whether we can get the planning application successfully through with the Council. If and when the application is successful a lease will be legally signed by HNGS Ltd and the land owner.

3, we have thought of ways in which when up and running the supporters can buy into sponsoring the club which will include several season tickets, OR go cashless admition and pay online like they now do at Oxford. This will avoid and limit any cash being taken at the turnstiles. Not only will this method avoid any suggestion about cash discrepancies but also help us. Who wants to be locking up after the meeting with the evenings takings.

4, it's still too early to talk about the future running on the club but if we are successful we would consider handing it over to a promoter and he would take charge. We will require a experienced qualified promoter to run the club as per the requirements of the sport.

HNGS Ltd intention is to get Cradley Speedway back to their own home. As to who runs it going forward is for future discussions with whoever is involved at the time, HSST, HNGS, Investors, Promoters etc.

We do hope the planning is successful and someone can make a sucess of it.
