Friday photo dump from the Open Week.

The wind kept us to a half day, but we still managed to sneak in a cheeky last lift at 19:30.

Competition starts tomorrow, so the serious business of pretending it is all just for fun begins.

Cracking couple of days so far for Open Week.

The Static Line course has seen both students get a couple of jumps in on Tuesday, and the sports accuracy crowd have been getting their eye in, ready for the weekend.

We are also open for tandems, so if you fancy joining us while the sun is playing ball, now is a good time.

There are only two slots left on the Static Line course this coming Monday, 15th July. ... and we are open all week, so plenty of opportunities to jump.

Learn to Skydive Solo

For those who have been waiting, booking is now open for our next Static Line course on Monday 15th June 2026:

https://bookings.burblesoft.com/index/8144/24

With our open week running from Tuesday 16th to Friday 19th June, it is also a great opportunity to get started and build some momentum with your Category System progression.

The open week is, of course, also open to all of our existing students. We are planning to have instructors on the drop zone every day, giving students at every stage of the Category System the opportunity to continue progressing.

There is no pressure to be available for the full week. Once you have completed the course, you can continue progressing as a club member at the weekends as normal.

Learn to Skydive Solo — Summer Training Weeks

We are looking to run two beginner solo skydiving training weeks this summer at Skydive GB, with interest now open for both Category System and AFF/Accelerated Free Fall training.

16–19 June 2026
4-day Category System training week

11–13 August 2026
3-day Category System training week

These weeks are for people who want to start the journey towards becoming a qualified skydiver and working towards their British Skydiving A Licence.

The Category System course includes your ground training, first jumps, and one year’s club membership. The training week is designed to give you a strong start, after which you can continue jumping as a club member and keep progressing through the sport.

Category System starts with ground training followed by solo jumps using static line deployment, then builds towards freefall progression.

AFF / Accelerated Free Fall is an intensive freefall training route, starting from higher altitude with instructors alongside you in freefall.

These training weeks are being planned in addition to our normal skydiving activities, giving new students a focused opportunity to begin their training while the club continues to operate as normal.
Final prices are still being confirmed, but we are working to keep them competitive.

Registering interest does not commit you to booking or payment.

Keeping with the history theme on International Women’s Day.

Long before modern sport parachuting, Dolly Shepherd was already making parachute descents in the Edwardian era. In 1908, when fellow parachutist Louie May got into trouble after her ripcord jammed during a balloon jump, Dolly brought them both down under one parachute in what is recognised as the first mid-air rescue.

Then, moving forward into competition parachuting, Jackie Smith made history by becoming the first person in the world to score 10 consecutive dead centres at a World Championships.

Different eras, same sport, both part of parachuting history.
