🛡️ Safety Tip: Be Aware, Be Smart, Stay Safe
One of the most important self-defence skills we teach our Juniors doesn’t involve kicking, punching or fighting at all.
It’s awareness. 👀
Being aware means noticing what’s happening around you and making smart choices before a problem gets bigger.
Here are a few simple habits every child can practise:
✅ Look around you
When you arrive somewhere new, take a moment to notice who is nearby, where you are and where you could go if you needed help.
✅ Trust your feelings
If a person, place or situation makes you feel uncomfortable, it’s OK to move away and tell a parent, teacher, coach or another trusted adult.
✅ Look up from your phone
When you’re walking, keep your head up and pay attention to what’s happening around you.
✅ Walk with confidence
Stand tall, look where you’re going and move with purpose. Confidence can help you feel calmer and more in control.
✅ Know where to get help
If something doesn’t feel right, your first choice should always be to move towards a safe place and find a trusted adult.
At Krav Maga Somerset, we don’t teach children to go looking for fights.
We teach them how to spot problems early, make good decisions, avoid danger where possible and protect themselves if they really need to.
The aim isn’t to make children worried about the world.
It’s to help them become more confident, aware and capable when they’re out and about. 💪
Our Juniors classes are designed for children aged 7–13, and beginners are always welcome.
No experience needed. No pressure to be the toughest child in the room. Just practical skills, supportive coaching and plenty of fun along the way.
