🌟🏏 Women & Girls Cricket is back at Wembdon Cricket Club! 🏏🌟

We’re excited to announce that our Women & Girls Cricket sessions start on Monday 13th April, and will run every Monday evening throughout the summer! 💪

Whether you’re picking up a bat for the very first time or looking to get back into the game, new players are always welcome 🙌

We offer both softball and hardball cricket, so there’s something for everyone — from complete beginners to experienced players.

👧 Teams & Training Times:
• Under 10s / Dynamos & Under 12s: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
• Under 14s: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
• Women’s Team: 6:30pm – 8:00pm

🏏 WOMEN’S CRICKET IS BACK! 🏏

Our women’s team were back in action yesterday, kicking off Wembdon Cricket Club’s first cricket of 2026 with two indoor fixtures against Taunton Deane and Wiveliscombe.

We’re delighted to say Wembdon came out victorious in both fixtures, with some great cricket played and plenty of fun had by all! A brilliant way to start the year 🙌

Some shots 📸 from our recent trip to Lodway.

2022 has been a fantastic season. With complete restructuring to the format of Womens Cricket. We entered the softball league which is now a T20 league, as well as the T20 Blitz hardball league. For most of our players this was their first time experiencing more traditional cricket.

It wasn’t a smooth or stress free start of the season suppose to join with a local team, to create our hardball side who pulled out on us, we were joined with another who pulled out just days before the start of the season. Meaning we needed to find 2/3 more players ASAP
Our wicket keeper breaking her hand in the first match of the season and our captain rupturing her Achilles a few days later knocked our 6 for hardball down to 4.

Seeing the struggle, those of our team who said softball was the right level for them turned around and said they will give hardball a go to help us out in a tough situation. Along with Izzy Love and Dawn Burston joining the team we managed to put out a team of just wembdon players for every fixture.

It’s not been easy to fulfill fixtures, but we’ve managed it and the team should be so so proud of themselves.

Softball cricket has been fantastic as always and a slightly smoother ride than the Blitz League, the effort and commitment the team shows is just amazing. A team who throw themselves into everything and always come out smiling no matter what. A real genuine bunch of people who are a pleasure to play with and be around.

There are still a few matches to go:
On Sunday we take to the road twice 🚗🛣to Midsomer Norton away and Frome away

With the right results it could see Wembdon crowned winners of top league 🤞🏼

Thank you to our coaches Joe and Aaron who not only give up their Monday evenings but their Sundays to come with us to fixtures, to Dan for ensuring the ground is always ready and to Maxwells who sponsored us once again to help us with our brand new T20 playing kit. 👏🏼

A wet and miserable day out at Clevedon.

But a fantastic performance from the whole side saw us to victory on the final ball of the match!
