Bridgwater College's Equestrian Centre is an approved British Horse Society (BHS) riding school based in Somerset. Our facilities include an indoor and outdoor arena, a range of show jumps, fillers, portable cross country fences, two large stable blocks and a variety of we

ll-schooled horses. All of our instructors are BHS qualified and we offer quality instruction in dressage and show jumping either on our horses or on your own horse. Private and group lessons are available for riders of all abilities (aged 10 years +).

This role is particularly suited to those available at weekends, with opportunities to cover split shifts on Saturdays and support the smooth running of our busy equestrian centre. Alongside supporting the students and day to day running of the busy commercial centre during the week.

You’ll become part of a valuable, friendly and supportive team, working within a professional learning environment where both horses and people thrive.

A unique feature of this role is the opportunity to work alongside our experienced BHS Stage 5 Stable Manager, gaining valuable industry knowledge and support. For the right applicant, there are opportunities to develop BHS qualifications, participate in riding sessions working on developing the horses for the students and clients, and benefit from the opportunity to join coaching sessions delivered by visiting trainers and riding clubs.

Looking after Equine and Human athletes in the heat - We may be cancelling or moving lessons!

Its looking to be a hot one this coming week. If you are riding with us please do think about brining a drink into the arena you can fill it up with our chilled cold water machine near the toilets.

As for our lovely horses, fresh water will be available in the arena for any pit stops required.

📢 RESCHEDULED – BHS Stage 3 Coach Training (CPD) | Somerset

Join us on Tuesday 7 July 2026 at Cannington Equestrian Centre for an engaging and supportive training day designed to help coaches feel confident and fully prepared for the BHS Stage 3 Coach Assessment.

Led by FBHS Danny Anholt, the afternoon will cover:
✅ Risk assessing coaching sessions
✅ Effective lesson planning
✅ Teaching the two required disciplines
✅ Reflecting on and developing your coaching practice

Working with enthusiastic riders and wonderful school horses, you'll have the opportunity to teach in a relaxed environment and receive constructive, personalised feedback. Participants can choose to teach, observe, or do a combination of both – every perspective offers valuable learning.

Wow, our staff and horses were so impressed with the wonderful taster day students we had visiting the centre today.

A date has now been aside so the horses can see you all again over the summer and ride them. This is addition to our regular Sunday sessions.

No experience needed as groups will be set to ability.
