FULL-TIME ⚽️

We finished the season with one last friendly tonight. Thankfully the weather eased up, the rain stayed away, and we managed to get one final kickabout in with a fairly competitive game.

A few players were unfortunately missing, but there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance. Andrew and Bradley got themselves on the scoresheet, but it was a strong team display all round with everyone playing their part.

A great way to bring the season to a close. 👏

Now it’s on to Presentation Night tomorrow to round things off before we head into our summer break.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout the season. Enjoy the break and we’ll be back ready to go again soon!

Bradley got us off to the perfect start with the opening goal, before Struan confidently converted from the penalty spot to make it two. Andrew then marked his first game back from injury in style, finding the net with a brilliant goal. 👏⚽️

Divisional cup game number 4 and we are facing Pollok away. Pollok put pressure on Bridge of Weir on both wings from the get go but the team is solid, well organised and holds up well without incurring in too many issues. On the counter we manage to create a couple of chances but not enough to trouble the goalkeeper.
The deadlock is broken at minute 24 due to a misunderstanding in building up from the back which costs us the 1-0.
In the second half the team comes on but from the start it’s too unstable at the back and lacks quantity and intensity in midfield. We struggle to get out ball at our feet, we can’t hold the ball up front and are constantly under pressure.
2-0 is a poor defensive display; the central midfielder manages to pe*****te easily in between lines, goes past 2 men unchallenged and finishes comfortably in front of goal.
3 and 4 nil are fast breaks, where the defence is not ready and is caught out on the counter.
It’s a frustrating game of two halves, organised and solid in the first and a second half which is influenced by lack of intensity in the middle and too much confusion at the back. We faced a good opponent but we can and need to do better! Head to the next one.

🥇 MOTM: Struan 🥇 The team chose Struan for MOTM today after yet another solid performance at the back. Key on aerial and ground duals won, crucial on interceptions and blocks and composed when building from the back and with fast breaks to start counter attacks for the team. To round it all up, he scored what it turns out to be the winner with a tap in from corner. Top performance Struan, man of the match!
