🏆 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS DAY 2026: 🏆

We held our annual club championship finals day yesterday, culminating nearly 2 months of action across 7 different knockout draws! See the captions/images below to find out who were the finalists & champions on the day... 👀

We'd like to thank everyone who came along to support yesterday, and to those who umpired/contributed to the tea party. Also a big shout-out to our tournament director Karl Spencer for organising! 🙌👏

*Unfortunately our Junior final(s) were rained-off during the morning and will be postponed to a later date. Well done to those who played prior to the stoppage, and we hope to see you all back in contention on the rearranged date.

🎾 LEAGUE TENNIS IS BACK! 🎾

Our five teams have been back in action in their respective divisions of the Staffordshire Inter-club tennis league over the past month, more details on how each have got on are included in the captions of the photos below.

Well done to all who have played so far, and if you like what you see, feel free to get in touch for further info! We're always looking for new members at the club/players for our 2 Ladies & 3 Men's teams! 👍

PRE-SEASON ACTION - INCL. VERA LLOYD TROPHY 2026: 🏆

With the 2026 season on the horizon, our members have been back on the courts these past two weekends in a friendly and our opening tournaments. Here's how they've got on:

Starting with last Sunday's Vera Lloyd Trophy, Phil Everton won the Men's section of the draw, whilst one of our newest member's Helena won the Ladies side; both finishing on 16 wins each as part of a round-robin mixed-doubles format. Our former chairwoman Lillian Tipton was on hand to present the winners with the trophy on the morning, who after 48 years as a member of the club has become Brewood's first life-member! Congratulations to all three, and thanks to those who took part on the day. 👏

On the preceding Sunday, some of our ladies played a friendly away against Albrighton where they ended-up 3-1 winners! Whilst back at Brewood, we also held another pre-season mixed-doubles tournament, whereby Helena finished top again alongside Matt Thomas. Thanks to Albrighton for hosting us, and again to all who took part/to Karl for organising!

FINAL STANDINGS - LEAGUE TENNIS: 🎾

Since our last league update at the start of September, all five of our teams have finished their 2025 campaigns in the Staffordshire Inter-club Tennis League, here's how they got on:

Ladies A - Starting off with our most successful team, the Ladies A finished their season in Division 2 (South) on 30 points! Having won 6, drawn 4 and lost 4 of their 14 fixtures. These results would see the team finish fourth place out of the 8 teams in the division. Well done ladies on a strong mid-table finish! 👏

Men's A - Moving onto our Men's A team, they experienced yet another difficult year, this time in Division 2 (South), finishing in last place (8th) despite a strong finish to the season. Overall, the Men's A won just 2 of their fixtures, drew 3 and lost 9 against difficult opposition, finishing on 11 points. This result will see the Men's A relegated to Division 3 (South) next year, where they'll be looking upwards again! ⬆️

Ladies B - As for our newly formed Ladies B team, they finished their inaugural campaign at the bottom of Division 3 (South) on a respectable 10 points; deriving from 3 draws and 11 losses. Nonetheless, it's been a great year for the side, with many experiencing league tennis for the first time, and achieving better results as the season progressed! They'll no doubt be looking to revive their improving form next year, as they work towards that elusive first victory! 👉

Men's B & C - Last but by no means least, both our Men's B & C teams competed in Division 5 (South) this season, whereby they too had a difficult year with both finishing in the bottom spots. Starting with the Men's B, they finished in 7th place on 13 points, having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 10 of their fixtures, whilst the Men's C finishing in 8th place lost all 14 of their fixtures finishing on just 2 points. These results will see both teams relegated to Division 6 (South) next season, where they'll be looking to return to winning ways also!

Despite it having been a difficult season for the majority of our teams, it's been fantastic to see so many of our members getting involved in league tennis yet again this year, and giving it their all on the court! Well done to all 39 members who represented the club across our four teams; enjoy the well deserved break! 👏

Additionally, we'd also like to say a big thank you to our team captains - Kate Woodhams (Ladies A), Joe Cockayne (Men's A), Sarah Northfield (Ladies B) & Karl Spencer (Men's B & C) - for their efforts throughout the year! It wouldn't be possible without you all. 🙌
