Weekend round up!

The 1st XI travelled to Winnington park on Saturday. Winnington Park piled on a dominant 283‑5, with BSM struggling to contain the scoring despite Kyle O’Reilly taking three wickets. In reply, BSM never settled, losing regular wickets and being dismissed for 127. Daniel Hall showed resistance with 37 and Henry Armitage added 28, but the chase was proved too difficult.

The 2nd XI took on Stockport Trinity at home. BSM battled to 121 all out after a series of short starts, with Jordan Brookes and Cameron Meadwell top‑scoring in a low‑scoring contest. The bowlers fought hard to defend it, led superbly by James Guy with 4‑17 and Aidan Norris taking two, but Stockport Trinity edged home at 123‑8 in a tight finish.

The 3s matched up against Urmston. Urmston were bowled out for 115 thanks to an excellent spell from Oliver Rowe, who claimed 4‑14, supported by Noman Zubairi. BSM’s chase wobbled at times but was anchored brilliantly by Anney Patel with a match‑winning 68, guiding the side to 116‑7 and a well‑earned victory.

The 4s were up against High lane. High Lane posted a steady 148‑6, with Henry Langford taking three wickets and Henry O’Reilly keeping things tight. BSM’s reply never fully got going, despite efforts from Mitch Twiggs and David Ryan, and they were bowled out for 86.

The women’s 1st XI on Sunday morning played Saddleworth. BSM produced a strong batting display to reach a net score of 324, with contributions from Maddy Derbyshire and Josie Stone. Their bowlers then controlled the game, restricting Saddleworth to a net 262 as Grace Hall starred with 4‑14 including a brilliant hat trick and Maddy Derbyshire added a tidy spell to secure a comfortable win.

On Sunday, the 1st XI battled hard for their 120‑9, with Daniel Hall’s gritty 43 the standout contribution. Despite breakthroughs from Kyle O’Reilly (3‑6) and Henry Armitage (1‑29), Birkenhead Park CC edged home at 121‑6 in a tight, low‑scoring contest.

The 3rd XI held their nerve in a well‑balanced game. Didsbury CC reached 130‑8, with Noman Zubairi’s superb 5‑43 and Alfie Sands’ 2‑29 keeping things in check. BSM chased steadily, led by Mark Sands’ 34 and Thomas Charlwood’s 25, reaching 131‑6 to complete a composed run‑chase.
