Let’s keep things simple. To see muscle growth (that thing you need to look ‘toned’ ‘sculpted’… whatever word you want to use), you need to be working hard.

Sooo lemme help you! An easy way to make sure you’re working hard enough is to consider ‘how many more reps could I do with this weight?’

If you could do another 5 or 10, I’d say up the weight. We want that number to reduce to 1, 2, 3 at most.

Some will say to go to absolute failure every set, every exercise. I’d say that’s preference, it’s not necessarily needed for every single exercise in your session, that’s a lot of mental and physical energy.

So, close to failure is exactly this - 1-2 reps in reserve.

There’s not one definitive answer to what you ‘should’ do, because it does depend on your goal, how many exercises you’re doing in a session, how many sessions per week… I could go on!

And how many reps you should do? Again, you could choose to apply this rule to 30 reps, buttttt that seems silly unless you want to be in the gym for 5 hours.

Use this as a general guide if you’re not sure, it’s a great starting point!!

And if you have absolutely no idea about what your programme should look like, girlyyyy that’s all part of 1:1 coaching - creating a programme that works for you, plus telling you exactly how to execute it, and giving you the knowledge to take with you for life 💪

4.5 years! That’s how much time is between these pictures. It takes a long time to build muscle, not necessarily this long, but we’re talking years.

And this isn’t one of those scenarios where I was still a teenager and ‘came into my body’ in this time 🤣🤣

Age 24/25 to age 28/29.

This muscle was built through years of lifting heavy weights consistently, and as you can see I’m not ‘bulky’ now…at least I don’t think I am?

I do think ‘bulky’ looks different to different people and if I was to flex my muscles I’d hope you’d tell me I do look bulky 🤪

But in all seriousness, we need to accept that building strength and muscle to look more defined and ‘toned’ does take time.

If you are still chasing instant gratification, not trusting the process and changing your training every few weeks because ‘nothing is working’…

…and/or eating as low as 1000 calories 😵‍💫 then it’s time to change up your approach.

This being said, if you get consistent you will absolutely feel and see changes within a matter of months! But I just want to remind you that the fitness influencer’s body you so desperately want will not happen within a few months.

I SOOO want you to gain muscle and strength, but it also doesn’t come with lack of knowledge.

If you don’t have the understanding and foundational knowledge of how to train, eat and just generally how muscle building works, there’s a high chance you’ll keep accidentally self sabotaging and not doing the right things for long enough to see change.

My advice to you would be to stop looking for a quick result and learn the how and why, for this to stick with you for LIFE! Yes, life, you should be lifting weights for life.

This is exactly what I help my 1:1 clients with, so they can actually take these things with them for the long run.

If you’re ready to learn, to know how to train for your goals and how to eat properly to support your training, you know where to find me. DM me or link in my bio to have a chat about online coaching I have spaces to start in September/October 💬

The reason I do my job isn’t just for a body transformation.

Sure, we do that too ⬆️

But it’s the ‘why’ behind those physique changes.

✨I’ve worked with women who have felt like giving up because nothing they’ve done has worked.

✨Women who long to feel confident in their bodies, and like themselves again.

✨Women who have so much going on in life, they need some pressure taken off and for someone to guide them.

✨And women who finally want to feel strong and capable, and do something for themselves for once, without the pressure of looking a certain way taking over their life!!

None of these women waited for life to get easier, or for it to be the perfect time to start something new, because, let’s be honest, it would never happen if that’s what they were waiting for.

They realised what they needed for their own happiness. Coaching isn’t just a gym plan and off you pop.

My coaching involves genuine compassion and a collaberative approach, not just being told what to do.

That way, you get the results you want - body, strength, fitness, but you gain a WHOLE lot more along the way.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Not to mention our monthly meet ups for my local girlies. I genuinely get to coach the NICEST of people 🥰

You know where I am if this sounds like something you need in your life, drop me a DM 💬🫶🏻

The group chat will be ready to welcome you ✨❤️

Even if you went as far as taking yourself to a hormone specialist, it’s likely these are just some of the basics they’d check with you.

So before you jump to ‘I must have a hormone imbalance’, I want you to ask yourself, are you:

➡️Skipping meals?
➡️Not fuelling your workouts?
➡️And/or not eating for hours after your workouts?
➡️Calling coffee breakfast?
…Basically…are you undereating…

➡️Training hard with little/no recovery?
➡️Not exercising at all?
➡️Regularly drinking alcohol?
➡️Eating 0 whole foods?
➡️Getting less than 6 hours sleep/crap sleep?
➡️Barely drinking any water?
➡️Do you have very high stress levels most of the time?

I want to remind you that being ‘into’ health, fitness, decent nutrition, is not a personality type. These are basic requirements we ALL need to consider.

I appreciate the list seems long, but I think you know these are the basics and chances are, there’s more than 1 you relate to.

Then there’s supplements. You could spend hundreds on the ones that claim to ‘balance your hormones’ or ‘fix your gut’, but if you’re not addressing any of this ⬆️ ya may as well just flush the cash down the 🚽

Here to make sure you’re giving your body the foundations it needs ✅😇

It’s not a chore, it’s a blessing ✨

If nothing else, WALK!

And if you’re feeling like you want to try something else but scared, ask a friend, family member, professional, ANYONE for help!✨
