What a great day at for the latest Devon Golfers Alliance, if Heineken did golf days this would be it!!

The course was outstanding, in the best shape for many years and a joy to play.

In house the staff were great and the food very good.

On the course Ryan Pope and partner S Cox were the stars of the show with 45 points in the Pro Am followed by Kris Mowatt and Andy Pryce a last minute pairing with 43.

Am Am Exeter pairing Simon Carter and John Fairman 42 lead by 1 from Dave Turnbull and Dave Ball Tavistock , John is having a great season it seems I’m passing Golf Ball and vouchers to him very fortnight.

Ryan Pope returned a very nice looking card of 14 pars and 4 birdies for the win and 40 points, followed by the ever consistent Paul Hendriksen was second on 38.

The road show now moves onto Trevose for our 2 days event in Feb.

Here are the final results from the Devon & Cornwall Golfers Alliance in Portugal. Unfortunately, Day 3 had to be abandoned due to thunder and lightning, but we still have our winners!

Top 3 – Pro
🥇 James Ruth – 83 pts
🥈 Joe Cruse – 76 pts
🥉 Dan Hendriksen & Paul Hendriksen – 75 pts (tie)

Top 3 – Team
🥇 Dan Hendriksen’s Team – 180 pts
🥈 James Ruth’s Team – 168 pts
🥉 Andy Fox’s Team & Paul Hendriksen’s Team – 166 pts (tie)

On a side note, for those who know him, we bumped into Bill Hammett last night in a bar in Lagos. Bill played his first Alliance back in 1976 and is hoping to play again in the next couple of months. It was fantastic catching up with a former President of the Devon Alliance.

Just off a call with Matthew, the GM at Churston. After chatting with the Head Greenkeeper, we’ve decided to cancel/postpone tomorrow’s event.

🌧️ The forecast’s not looking great, so we’re calling it early to save anyone an unnecessary trip.
