We’ve been slack again with the updates! Apologies!!

Yesterday we played Belton away. A game that’s always been a good tough battle, after beating them from 3-0 down at half time last season, and being beaten 5-2 after a poor performance this season. The HBWR knew they were travelling for a solid game. Light on our feet due to Easter weekend and a few injuries. We knew we needed to put in a solid performance to come away with anything! The game saw Elliott Dixon take the armband to begin with, in the absence of both captain and vice captain, until Tom Hutson made his appearance from the bench.

From the off the game was very balanced, neither side managing to really get on top. Until 17th minute when our donkey of the day decided to shield the ball out to give Belton a corner. After half clearing the ball we failed to pick up the man on the edge of the box, whose deflected effort found the net.

A massive sucker punch for the boys in green and from their reaction to going behind we feared the worst.
Thankfully HBWR really stepped it up, and despite the two dives from the usual Belton suspect going unpunished the lads kept their composure and created the much better chances. Unfortunately half time came too soon as HBWR were completely on top, after numours chances just didn’t fall for us.

Half time 1-0 down players with ni**les, it was always going to be a difficult second half. Two subs made one through injury.

The second half came which saw
HBWR have a few early chances as josh Heathershaw managed to break the line a few times, unfortunately Belton were quick to react and we couldn’t capitalise.
Belton had come out a completely different side however, and started to play some lovely football, for periods it appeared they were moving the ball about for fun and it didn’t take much to play straight through us.
53” Belton go 2-0 up which really seemed to sink the hearts of the already struggling HBWR.
58” 3-0 down another ni**le becoming too much so more subs used.
A slight shift of players in the formation saw us manage to keep Belton out for abit longer and with more ni**les getting worse we made our final couple of subs. Onto the 87” Belton completed their scoring making it 4-0 with HBWR dead on their feet.

Full time 4-0

A difficult one to take as a side we knew we could do better. On reflection a change in formation may have helped, a bit of disappointment in some of the referees decisions. But definitely a combination of Belton stepping it up and us dropping off saw them deservedly take all the points.

Donkey - Ian Bourne - shielding out the ball for a Belton corner
Motm - Alfie Stone - solid performance all game.

HBWR come up short again. HBWR 0-2 Waddington FC

Another defeat for the lads in what was a difficult day to play football with the high winds, HBWR went into the game very short on numbers and kicked off playing into the wind. We quickly found it difficult to get any possession of the ball, and it was instantly coming back at us. Within 5” we were 1-0 as an unmarked player scored a header at the back post. The first half was scrappy, seeing injuries strike, as Jack Wallheads thigh injury from an early tackle saw him string out the first half at 70%. Followed up towards the end of the half where Ryan Leithead’s awkward landing saw him needing hospital treatment.
We came in 1-0 down at half time having worked incredibly hard to keep Waddington out. But now with the wind in our sails it was our opportunity to go grab the game. We started the half much better but was still unable to make any clear opportunities. Both sides frustrations had been growing throughout the game with inconsistent decisions and at appeared to be a total lack of control in the game. Both sides continued to battle hard with HBWR getting fortunate on a couple of penalty appeals going in their favour and not being awarded to Waddington, but also unfortunate to not see the opposition reduced to 10 from a clear goal scoring opportunity as George bush was brought down outside of the box. Waddington caught HBWR on a break and managed to find the net around the 60” mark giving them the 2-0 lead. HBWR battled on but it was one of them days where nothing was coming off, every touch was poor, every pass was astray and some key decision making errors.
The game ended just as tempers had began to spill over. But ultimately both managers were left in agreement that both sides did well to see the game through in the manor they did with the referee seemly creating tension rather than controlling it.

In summary a terrible day for football, but we can only control our performance which was well below par. Credit to Waddington for their performance and they deserved the result.
A couple of weeks off for HBWR and an opportunity to get back on the training ground as we come back to tough opposition in Belton FC away on the 5th April.

Many thanks too

HBWR 4-2 Lincolnshire police as Mason ‘Valverde’ Cook runs riot scoring all 4 goals!

A great start from HBWR saw us dominate play, a couple of missed chances before Mason tucked away the opener. It wasn't too long after that he struck for a second time giving us a firm foothold in the game. Some more great play from HBWR saw a couple of chances go missing. The Police began to find their feet in the game, and slowly stemmed the HBWR chances, and started to even the game out.
Half Time came shortly and 2-0 up, we made a few subs and got straight back out for some more. The Police showed their force and were becoming dominant, fortunately for us they failed to seize all their chances, despite the missed opportunities they managed to fire back 2-1 and it wasn’t long before they levelled the score 2-2. HBWR needed to pick themselves up and get hold of the game, which is exactly what we did. With a combination of both sides making changes, we started to play football again and quickly got on top. A couple of missed opportunities but it wasn’t long before Mason was brought down in the penalty area, and calmly dispatched the penalty that he worked hard to earn. 3-2 HBWR now to see the game out. We didn’t just see the game out we kept the pressure on pushing for the 4th goal which Mason delivered to put the game beyond any doubt. 4-2. 5 minutes from time the weather decided it was time to turn the pitch into a pond within seconds of torrential rain so the referee called time.

All in all a good game, played in good spirits and a good display from both sides.

Motm - Mason Cook

Another belated post (apologies) and another tough day at the office for the HBWR against a well organised Anchor FC as they beat us 4-0

A difficult game to get going with HBWR having a couple of early chances, but the Anchor slowly woke up and started going through the gears. We gave away a daft penalty which seemed to set us back. As 1-0 down at 28” turned to 2-0 down at 34” and 3-0 by 37”
The HBWR came out for the second half determined to give it a go and put out a better display, causing a couple of problems for the anchor but it wasn’t enough to break the lines and on the 70” anchor finished off the scoring making it 4-0

Our unbeaten run comes to an abrupt end as we bow out 3-4 losers to metheringham.

A poor display by the HBWR, with us struggling to convert chances again, a good display by Metheringham who ground out a result, pinching the full points on the 90th minute.

MATCHDAY!! Today we’re playing at Washingborough Playing Fields instead of branston due the bombardment if weather and usage in recent weeks it’s gaining a well deserved rest! The HBWR are still just as hungry to keep their form going as we look to take 3 more points today.

Unbeaten in 7 games and back to back wins.
HBWR butchered the beast 5-0 in perfect conditions for ducks!

A very positive start for HBWR, creating a good opportunity but unfortunately just the wrong side of the offside line. Both teams battled hard but fair to say HBWR had the better of the opportunities.
25” Josh Heathershaw followed up Brogan Woodham’s effort beautifully to tap it past the keeper putting 1-0 up!
Just over 10 minutes later we made some changes which helped us keep control of the game.
On the stroke of half time George Bush was brought down in the box giving us the opportunity to make it 2-0, after some penalty spot scuffing by the opposition, unfortunately we weren’t able to convert the chance and went in at half time just the 1 goal to the good!
Half time and we made another change, a quick reminder that we still had a lot of work to do.
55” Elliot Dixon comes flying out making a sliding tackle winning the ball helping us keep the score at 1-0 but the referee deemed the challenge a dangerous lunge which saw him branch a yellow card.
60” more changes made to help try control the game.
68” wow, the balls dropped out to Metin Yarici who’s taken a lovely touch and found the bottom corner beautifully from around 25 yards 2-0
75” HBWR have really taken control of the game now and George bush decides he wants to add to the tally himself after knocking on the door. After a nice assist from Ian Bourne. bushy makes it 3-0
78” George bush has decided to fill his boots with a nice finish from Ethan Hutchinsons headed assist in the box. 4-0! Accompanied by another sub as Jack wallhead is reintroduced.
82” Jack wallhead makes his presence known finishing the 5th goal from Metin Yarici’s assist.
86” George Bush’s boots have given up the go, so final change of the day.

Full time whistle and it’s 5-0! The lads showed great character and battle for the full 90minutes, butcher and beast had a good go and although HBWR deserved all their goals it certainly wasn’t a walk over of a game for the majority.
We must also give them credit for cleaning their changing room, should be an expectation but one of the few who have shown the respect this season.

MOTM - just pipped Metin to it.. Ian Bourne - covered every blade of grass and where the grass should have been, solid performance all round in difficult conditions!
Donkey - McKenzie Greene - sending a rocket straight to the moon

ITS MATCHDAY!! Today I’m sure there will be no love lost as we take on our neighbours Butcher & Beast FC. A side who have been in some fine form. Last time we came out 4-0 winners but we know it’s not going to be an easy task this time round facing a much improved side. Thanks as always to our incredible sponsor Lincolnshire Carpet Warehouse

WOW!
A dominant performance see’s HBWR take 3 points at home!! Beating Jerusalem reserves 7-3!

The game got off to a good start with Jack Wallhead finishing McKenzie Greene assist! After a couple of dubious offside flags we then got caught napping leaving ourselves short at the back and allowing an equaliser 14”.
2 minutes later Joshua Heathershaw put us back ahead finishing Jack Wallheads assist.
Some more interesting offside decisions against us delayed our next goal but worth the wait as on the 32” Brogans run assisted by McKenzie greene saw us go 3-1 ahead.
33” and we’ve let ourselves down again as Jerusalem scored their second.
4-2 37” Jack Wallhead decided to double our lead again. Before completing his first half hatrick of goals along with McKenzie completing his hatrick of assists on the 39” 5-2!!
43” The stars must have aligned as captain Irish found the net despite calls of own goal we’ve got to give him his due, assisted (apparently) by Ian Bourne! sending HBWR in 6-2 up at half time!

The manager decided to use the full bench at half time and 55” Tom Hutson completed the HBWR scoring for the day.
68” we got complacent and took a quick free kick just inside our half, the short pass saw us get caught in possession and failing to get rid left the opposition 11 a good length to run before finding the target from distance. 7-3
Late into the game the opposition recieved a second yellow seeing them down to 10. Although it was a suprise they hadn’t seen more cards earlier in the game.

All in all a good day for HBWR a solid performance, some great play, 7 goals and 3 points! All setup nicely for a tough test from our new neighbours Butcher and Beast who have been in great form of late!

Motm - Jack Wallhead!
Donkey - Alfie stone & Callum Turner - Callum falling over the ball, and Alfie we will let him decide which reason he wants to give this week.
