Woffycam may have debuted at presentation night but it doesn’t stop there, it now appears at most of our games

For the second game in a row we faced higher division opposition, this time Chancet Wood (who joined the SDFPL in 2003 like Zion)

We rotated the players throughout the game to give everyone a good run and went 4-4-2, and although we rode our luck at times we kept their chances to a minimum and pushed up the field ourselves.

We did get a bit too confident at times and began to play our normal game which is when they broke through but thankfully they hit the post and had a soft shot giving Tom (who was brilliant in the sticks again) time to get over and make the save.

Toward the end of the half Holman had the ball at the edge of their 18 yard box, and squared to a free Tommy Allen who placed a great shot into the top left corner.

After a half time talk to manage the game we went out and continued the hard work, Jevo and Sinny between them kept their long range shots and through balls to a minimum, the game was 50/50

With 5 to go manager Matt thought it was safe to come on and so went on the wing for Keith Coulson, but this encouraged the opposition who managed an equaliser from a corner with 2 to go

Final score 1-1, a great game to keep the lads together and get some fitness in, the ground made playing the game on the floor hard, and saw Tez and Shaun pick up injuries, hopefully they will just be small knocks rather than serious.

Today we decided to test ourselves by taking on one of the big boys, Railway from division 1 who since agreeing to play signed a handful of players from the champions of the last 4 years, Hillsborough Pumas.

We had a rare no show on the day and a late drop out leaving us with 12

We decided on a deep, narrow 4-5-1 in the team talk but instantly from kick off just played our normal game, result 3-0 after 20 mins to Railway.

Then an advert break for the millions watching at home cleverly disguised as an hydration break, where we again decided on a deep, narrow 4-5-1, this time we did it.

Result no goals for around 45 mins.

Just after they got their 4th it went to pot, Kayode injured, Jevo injured, Connor injured, all in space of a few minutes, Kayode was first off but had to come back on as Jev and Connor couldn’t put weight on their knees.

Matt on and we borrowed Devon Stead from Railway who was known by many of us and even team mates to some through the Manor on Sundays.

They immediately got a 5th

We had planned in the last 15/20 mins to go 4 up top and skip the midfield, so with 20 left that’s what we did

Bad move, it was open season for them, and they got another 5

Final result 10-0.

In all we came off glad we had played it, yes the result was disappointing, but the 3 at the beginning were due to ignoring the plan, the 5 at the end were due to going gung ho, and 1 due to forced player changes.

In the middle however, around 45 minutes we looked good and we should take confidence that if we need to manage a game we know how to, plus to them that played today was a good test of fitness.

Good run out but don’t fancy facing them again for a while.

Finally today saw the debut of Woffy cam, Zions games will now be recorded for all your viewing pleasures.

Forgot to post but on the 18th we faced Galaxy over 35’s in a friendly

The game started bad with Dooby coming off injured leaving us with no subs and Galaxy passing us off the park we did well to come in just 4-0 down

Second half was a complete turnaround with us not letting them have the ball and bagging 4 ourselves, final score 4-4 (Woff2, Alfie 1, Tez 1)
