Sorry but you’ll find my Instagram boring…

I don’t ask my clients for underwear check ins and share them, I show minimal clients working out and when I do it’s usually anon.

That’s because my clients aren’t content.

They’re people.

Their struggles stay private.

Our discussions stay confidential.

Their vulnerabilities aren’t marketing material.

I want my coaching to feel like a safe sanctuary, an hour in the gym to feel like an escape from reality, where you can rock up in old joggers and no make up and turn your brain off.

It’s terrible for my social media growth 😂😅, but it’s exactly how I’d want to be treated if I were the client and it suits my folks best to work on their transformations quietly, away from open judgement and without any self doubt 💚

The kettlebells in this photo weigh 40kg (2 x 20kg) which is just over 6 stone.

That’s also the amount of weight this client has lost through nutrition coaching and personal training.

When you think about weight loss this way, it stops being about dress sizes, vanity or appearance.

It’s about what your knees no longer have to absorb, your hips and ankles no longer have to support and what your heart no longer has to pump around.

Even your skeleton, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues bear the cost of excess weight over time.

What’s so interesting is that carrying these kettlebells is bloody hard work. She can only carry them for a short distance before her heart rate rockets and she starts to struggle.

Yet her body used to carry this same weight 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It’s like carrying a big child on your back everywhere for years and her body feels the difference with every step she takes and measuring that progress based on appearance trivialises it.

It’s 5pm on a Friday and for many of you the working week is almost done.

This is often the moment your brain starts looking for a reward.

Maybe it’s the familiar call of a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc 🍷. Maybe it’s the takeaway menu that’s suddenly become very appealing 🍕. Or perhaps it’s a trip to the chocolate cupboard to numb the stress of the week 🍫.

Whatever that little “mind bell” is that’s ringing 🧠🔔, it’s worth remembering that it’s often the very same behaviour that contributed to unwanted weight gain in the first place.

The stress isn’t the problem. The habit you’ve built around dealing with the stress might be.

So here’s my question for you…

What are you going to do instead?

How are you going to give yourself the dopamine, comfort and relaxation you’re craving without undoing the progress you’ve worked so hard for this week?

Maybe it’s:
• Meeting a friend for a walk ☀️
• Planning something exciting to look forward to ✈️
• Having a long bath or some self-care 🛁
• Reading, gardening, crafting or simply putting your feet up 📚

Most of us don’t need more stimulation at the end of a busy week.

We need rest.

Choose the version of “treating yourself” that leaves you feeling proud on Monday morning, not disappointed.
