BRAINTREE TRIO WIN COUNTY TRIPLES 🔴🟡⚫️

Massive congratulations to Danny Mills, Josh Heffernan and Luke Banks who have been crowned County Triples champions following success in the final played at frinton bowls club

The team standing between the Braintree Trio and the title were Harlow's David Needs, Paul Smyth and Steve Tucker - who was subbing for Leon Dordoy, the game started tight with the score 3-3 after 5 ends and braintree only winning by 1 at 8 ends, but the Braintree team found there feet in the second half to lead 13-4 after 12

The Harlow team fought back with 4 straight ends to reduce the score to 13-9 after 16, but a fantastic end from Braintree saw them pick up a 4 on the 17th end to win the title 17-9

A Fantastic achievement for both the Players and the club as this is the first time the Club has won the Mens County Triples, a tournement that has been played for since 1920

Well done guys the whole club is so proud of you, well deserved 🏆❤️

LADIES COUNTY FINALS AND MENS SEMI FINALS SUCCESS 🔴🟡⚫️

Well what a weekend it has just been for Braintree bowls club as the ladies county finals and mens county semi finals produced some fantasic results for the club.

Firstly ladies county finals which were held at Romford bowls club saw the club have participation in 4 county finals, a record which in itself is fantasic but the results which followed were even more special.

First up was the Junior Singles, Braintree were being represented by Evie Mills here and she didnt disappoint winning the title with a 21-9 victory over essex county's Gracie Burch.

Triples were next Braintree represented by Leah Bamford, Alison Smart and Serena Madgewick, another Fantastic performance so the girls claim the title with a 24-8 win vs Debbie Sales, Doreen Butcher and Hayley Halford from Dunmow

The Afternoon session saw the club claim 2 more titles to take the total for the day to 4. The county 2 Wood singles title was claimed by Leah Bamford, beating Michelle Squires from Clockhouse 17-5, and the junior pairs title was won by Evie Mills and Essex County's Gracie Patient aftet they beat Alisha Etherington and Chloe Hearn 20-10

While all this was taking place, over at Essex County the Mens county semi finals were Underway, firstly with Steve Dunn playing in the 2 Wood Singles vs Conor Mathers from Frinton, A tight game which went back and forth but sadly just was not meant to be in the end with conor taking the win 16-15

The Other mens Semi final was in the county triples with Danny Mills, Josh Heffernan and Luke Banks, taking on Michael Coulson, Steve Gunnell and Ed Morris, A slow start from the guys saw them 2-8 down after 7 ends but they soon turned it around with a couple of big counts sending them into the last end 5 shots up, the essex county boys did not give up though holding 5 with one bowl left Luke banks produced an amazing bowl under pressure to cut the count down and send the Braintree Boys to Leamington

What a perfect day for the club (well nearly Perfect, seeing as it is steve writing this 😅)

Well done everybody 🏆🏆🏆🏆

BRAINTREE'S NATIONAL DOUBLE FOURS REACH LAST 16 🔴🟡⚫️

Well done to Braintree's National double fours A team who have made it to the last 16 in the country following victory against Sharnbrook from Bedfordshire

The game was played at the Neutral venue of Baldock bowls club in Hertfordshire , who the thank for hosting this game and what a game it turned out to be for anybody watching.

The rink of Gary Lovatt, Dave Hunt, Graham Easterbrook and Steve Dunn, got of to a slow start finding themselves 1-8 down but soon this was brought back and with 3 ends to go the Braintree team was winning 18-15, however the Sharnbrook guys played some great bowls to win the last 3 ends and win the rink 19-18

This meant the rink of Cadell Lench, Josh Heffernan, Luke Banks and Graham Thompson knew nothing less than a 2 shots win would do, having lead for most of the game they reached the final end 6 shots up, and with some great bowls only dropped 1 to win the rink 20-15, but more importantly win the match by 4 shots overall.

As mentioned before this now puts the team in the last 16 and just one more win away from a spot at the national finals, the opposition for that last 16 match will be Newmarket Avenue, and this game will be played at Radwinter Bowls Club on Sunday 9th August at 10.30am

Any support would be greatly appricated by the players.

LADIES REACH ALBERT CRABB FINAL 🔴🟡⚫️

Well done to the Braintree Ladies Albert Crabb team who have made it to the final following a 47-28 victory over south benfleet and canvey.

The Home rink of Freda Laidlaw, Danielle Gibbons, Hazel Murray and Serena Madgewick had a very tight game all the way till the end, at some stages being up on the board and other times being down but in the end a late run saw the girls win the rink 20-16

It was a different story for the away rink which was, Olive Hawkins, Katie Thompson, Evie Mills and Christina Allen, the girls got off to a flyer finding themselves 12-1 up after just 5 ends and never looked back going on to win the rink 27-12

The Final will be played on Satuday August 1st time TBC, vs Connaught Ladies, as Braintree Bowls Club are also the hosts for this years final we hope this gives the girls the lift they need to win the title for the first time since the mid 90s

Any support for the final would be fantasic and im sure greatly appricated by the girls.

BRITISH ISLES SUCCESS FOR EVIE 🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍄

Massive well done to Evie and the rest of the England under 18 squad on retaining thier british isles championship after 2 days of competiton at leamington spa.

6 games spead over 2 days gave Evie and the rest of the squad a chance to show everybody the talent in the England side and they certainly did that, 6 wins out of 6 saw the side win the title by by a massive 27 points ahead of Ireland in 2nd , Scotland in 3rd and Wales in 4th

This result for evie means she has nearly completed the set of under 18 squads after being in the squad now for series in ireland, scotland and England, the whole club wishes her well as she aims to make the sqaud that will travel to Wales next season in what will be her final year in the under 18s

Well done to bowls england and everyone involved in the England squad for a fantastic series.

MENS NATIONAL DOUBLE FOURS TEAM REACH LAST 32 IN ENGLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Well done to Braintree's National double fours side who beat Harlow 33-30 to win the Essex area and advance to the National last 32

The Game was played at Maldon bowls club who hosted us as the neutral venue and those who came to watch were treated to an fantasic game

Braintree's first rink of Gary Lovatt, Dave Hunt, Graham Easterbrook and Steve Dunn had a slow start against Harlow's rink skipped by Gary Hurley, finding themselves 5-14 down after 11 ends however a late rally from the boys saw them close to gap and only lost the rink by 2 shots in the end 14-16

This opened the door for the other rink of Cadell Lench, Josh Heffernan, Luke Banks and Graham Thompson, this rink was almost the complete opposite to the first, Braintree leading for most parts of the game and led 19-10 with 2 ends to play against harlow's rink skipped by Leon Dordoy, Harlow won the last 2 ends to reduce the score but braintree held on to win the rink 19-14 and with it win the overall by 3 shots.

Braintree now play the winners of the Bedfordshire area which were Sharnbrook Bowls Club, this game will be played Baldock bowls and Cricket Club on Friday 24th July At 6.30pm, any support would be greatly appricated

The Home rink of Lorraine Wilkinson, Freda Laidlaw, Leah Bamford and Serena Madgewick were always in control of there match and dispite a couple of counts for witham in the middle part of the game the result was never in doubt, coming through in the end 25-12

The away rink had a much tighter game, the team of Katie Thompson, Hazel Murray, Christina Allen and Alison Smart only had a 3 shot lead after 13 ends however a count of 3 and then a 4 extended the advantage to win the game 19-8

NATIONAL DOUBLE FOURS TEAM REACH AREA FINAL ❗️❗️

Well Done to the National double fours team that have made it to the Essex area final following a 41-19 victory against Happy Valley

A game which started of close with both Braintree and happy valley playing some fantasic bowls, the game then turned Braintree's way in the second half as they raced to victory, however it must be said the final score does not reflect the game as a whole, with the match for large parts being a lot closer than that scoreline suggests

Well done to Happy Valley for making it this far in the comp, im sure they will be looking for revenge when the 2 sides meet again in the County Shield on Monday 6th July

As for Braintree the Area final will be against Harlow bowls club and will be played at Maldon as the neutral green on Sunday 12th July @ 10am

Good luck to the players we wish them all well, rink scores from the game as follows

Gary Lovatt, Dave Hunt, Graham Easterbrook, Steve Dunn - Won - 22 - 9

Cadell Lench, Josh Heffernan, Luke Banks, Graham Thompson - Won - 19 - 10
