☀️ Hot Weather Warning ☀️

Please stay safe when visiting our park during periods of hot weather by following these key points:

🔥 Follow our NO BBQ or open fire rule. The ground is dry and fire spreads quickly. Wildfire risk is high.
💦 Be water aware. Supervise children and dogs near ponds, rivers and lakes and remember NO swimming is allowed.
🐶 Dogs can get heatstroke very quickly. Walking them in the very early morning or late evening is best.
🗑️ Take your rubbish home with you. At busy periods our bins can become full. Please pack an extra bag and make sure any litter is disposed of responsibly. Take it home if our bins are full.

If and when you do visit, remember to bring lots of water and stay out of the sun during the hottest periods of the day.

We are open from 8.00am to 9.30pm (in June and July).

There's no better excuse to pack up your favourite treats and enjoy lunch surrounded by nature. ☀️🍓🧺

We've got lots of scenic spots to discover at Great Notley. From the main picnic field (which is close to the car park) to cosy spots by the lake, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

And don't forget, Sky Ropes is now open at weekends to help you work up an appetite!

🚴‍♀️ Celebrate with a two-wheeled adventure at Great Notley! 🚴‍♂️

With flat, traffic-free pathways throughout the park, Great Notley is perfect for those cyclists seeking a confidence boost as well as younger riders.

Pedal until your heart’s content, around the lake and along Essex’s longest play trail (1.2km).

Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, continue to the former railway line, the Flitch Way – but make be aware you may have to cross some roads.🌳

Before heading back to the car park, riders can stop for a refreshing drink or snack at the Skylark café (on weekends) or stay and take on Sky Ropes (book online in advance).

It’s and we’re saying THANK YOU to the incredible Friends of the Flitch Way volunteers, who do exceptional work at Great Notley Country Park, the Black Water Rail Trail and the Colne Valley Linear Park.

The Friends of the Flitch Way group do fantastic work such as supporting the rangers with habitat management, their work with carriage at Rayne Station and other projects like benches along the Flitch Way.
From maintaining our sites to supporting conservation work, your time and dedication make a real difference.
Because of you, our park and trails continue to thrive for both people and wildlife.

The weather is warming up! 😃 ☀️

If you are thinking about visiting us, please remember to follow our no BBQ rule.

As the summer approaches, the grasslands become dry, which means there is an increased risk of fire and damage. ⚠️

Picnics, on the other hand, are always welcome! 🥪 🧺 🍓

We also politely ask you to take your litter home and supervise children and keep dogs on leads near ponds, rivers, lakes and wildlife. Remember, swimming is prohibited.

Please be aware that improvement work on the play trail has started at Great Notley Country Park and will continue for around seven to eight weeks.

Some areas and equipment will be out of action and diversions may be in place.
