Stop telling me you’re busy. Being busy isn’t a KPI.
“We’ve been absolutely manic.”
“We haven’t stopped.”
“Everyone’s flat out.”
“We’re rushed off our feet.”
Great. But what actually happened? What did you sell? What did you make? What did you learn? What became more profitable? What got better? What actually moved the business forward?
Because there’s a huge difference between activity and progress.
I’ve seen businesses where everyone is working incredibly hard, but very little is actually improving.
Quotes aren’t being followed up. Margins aren’t being measured. Problems keep coming back. Meetings fill diaries. The owner spends the week firefighting.
Awesome - Everyone is busy. But is the business actually getting better?
At the end of this week, ask yourself one question:
“What did we achieve this week that made the business better?”
If the answer isn’t immediately obvious, it might be time to look a little deeper.
I’ve got a FREE Business Scorecard that will help you do exactly that. It takes just a few minutes and gives you a clearer picture of where your business is performing well, where the gaps are and where you should be focusing your attention.

Being busy is easy. Knowing what to be busy doing is the important bit.
