BEN COLLAR | ALWAYS FINDING HIS WAY HOME
From Bumbles to Minis.
Minis to Youth.
Youth to Men’s rugby.
Ben has been part of Braintree Rugby Club since he was four years old.
His rugby journey has taken him beyond the club, representing Essex throughout the age groups and up to U20 level, before heading to St Mary’s University, Twickenham, where he went on to captain their First XV.
But even when university took him away from Braintree during the week, Saturdays were different.
At a time when the club was short of front-row players, Ben made the journey home every weekend to pull on a Braintree shirt and help his team.
Because sometimes being part of a club isn’t about where you are; it’s about where you come back to.
The last couple of seasons haven’t been straightforward. A dislocated knee suffered in training caused ongoing problems and kept Ben away from the rugby he loves.
But the work didn’t stop.
Ben has spent the summer concentrating on his rehab, putting in the hours to get himself ready to return.
Now he’s fit, determined and raring to get back on the pitch.
From a four-year-old Bumble to an Essex player, university captain and senior Braintree player, there have been plenty of different shirts along the way.
But there’s one he keeps coming back to.
