Rose Athletic F.C. 5–2 Prospect AFC
🔥 An outstanding performance from Rose Athletic! 🔥
What a performance from the lads today! From the starting XI to all five substitutes, every single player played their part and gave everything for the badge from the first whistle to the last.
We were fast, attacking, composed on the ball and solid defensively, playing some fantastic football throughout the 90 minutes. Prospect simply couldn’t cope with the intensity, movement and quality we showed today.
Rose started brightly and deservedly took the lead after some excellent build-up play. Cam picked the ball up out wide and delivered a dangerous cross into the box. The Prospect keeper came to collect but spilled the ball into Louy’s path, who managed to get a touch into the path of Regan, who made no mistake and smashed home to make it 1–0 Rose.
Prospect responded quickly, capitalising on a mix-up between our defence and goalkeeper to level the game at 1–1.
Rose regained the advantage from a long throw with Jack getting his head to the ball and directing it into the path of Cam who calmly finished to put us back in front at 2–1.
Once again, Prospect found a quick equaliser with a long ball over the top finding their striker who managed to poke the ball past the onrushing Rose goalkeeper to make it 2–2.
But the lads refused to be knocked off their stride.
Some brilliant football through the middle saw Tom pick the ball up on the left before producing a superb cross-field pass to Cam on the right. Cam delivered yet another quality cross into the box finding Louy who brought it down brilliantly before squeezing his finish inside the near post.
3–2 Rose at half-time!
The second half was another level.
The lads came out with the same intensity but this time our defensive shape was outstanding. The defence and goalkeeper were completely in sync, shutting Prospect down and giving them very little to work with.
Lionel, who was phenomenal once again made a brilliant run in behind and raced onto a through ball. He beat the goalkeeper to it only to be wiped out inside the box, Penalty to Rose.
Up stepped Tom, who kept his composure and smashed the penalty into the goalkeeper’s left-hand corner giving him no chance. 4–2 Rose!
The final goal came after Rose had made our 5 substitutions with one of the new arrivals, Dom, immediately making an impact.
Dom chased the ball down just inside the Prospect half as a defender attempted to clear. The clearance struck Dom and bounced perfectly over the defensive line and goalkeeper. Dom continued his run kept his composure and calmly placed his finish into an empty net from around 20 yards.
5–2 Rose! 💛💙
From there, the lads saw the game out professionally and secured another three valuable league points.
We genuinely couldn’t have asked for much more today. The quality of football, the movement, the work rate, the togetherness and the finishing were all first class.
Every player played for each other. Every player backed each other. Every player fought for the badge.
This is exactly the standard we need to keep setting. 💪
