Bradford Bulls Wheelchair Rugby League Club

Bradford Bulls Wheelchair Rugby League Club The Bradford Bulls Amateur Wheelchair Tag Rugby League Club is a community Rugby League Club. WHEN WE TRAIN AND WHERE? WHAT IS WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE?

As a Wheelchair Rugby League Club we have both disabled and non disabled players of both sexes and a wide age range to play Rugby League together as a team. We train every Wednesday 7pm to 8pm at Sedbergh Sports Centre

We are always on the lookout for new players and volunteers and you are welcome to come along as see what we are about. COMMUNITY COACHING

We also have a qualified community coac

hing team at the Club who are able to take the game into schools, colleges and community groups as the game as well as being great fun and exciting to play is a great disability awareness tool. Everyone plays the game in wheelchairs and each player wears a shirt with velcro on the shoulders onto which a tag or flag is placed. During a game a tag is removed, raised in the air and dropped to show a tackle is complete. Just like in the running game you have 6 tackles to carry the ball towards your try line, a try is scored by touching the ball down over the try line. A conversion is taken by hitting the ball with a closed hand off a raised kicking tee, the ball as usual has to pass between the posts for a try to be given. Ideally the game should be played on a 40 metre x 20 metre pitch but they are very rare, we often play on smaller pitches. Each team consists of 5 players on the pitch for each team plus substitutes, the game is 40 minutes each half. A LITTLE HISTORY

The game of Wheelchair Rugby League started in France, the pioneers of the game were Wally Salvan and Robert Fassolette. They brought the game to the UK and it has been growing and developing ever since. The England Wheelchair Rugby League team became World Cup Champions in 2008 after travelling to Australia.
