🔥⚽ FULL-TIME | CLAYTON A.F.C 4–2 SHELF ⚽🔥
DERBY DAY. TWO DOWN. FOUR BACK. CLAYTON WIN.
This one had all the trimmings of a proper local derby — goals, tackles, big saves, quality finishes and plenty of passion.
Respect to both teams, who turned up to play football and go all-out for the win. A cracking game and a great advert for local football Shelf Juniors afc
Clayton started brightly but two defensive lapses were punished by Shelf, leaving us 2–0 down at half-time.
A response was needed — and it came. 🔥
The second half belonged to Clayton. Manny Blankson was outstanding in midfield, grabbing hold of the game, winning his battles and helping us completely take control.
⚽ 2–1 | Manny — a brilliant turn inside the box before calmly finding the bottom corner.
⚽ 2–2 | Pricey Tyrone Pryce New — pure determination, chasing down the full-back before squeezing his finish inside the near post. Showing the lads whay to do.
⚽ 3–2 | Manny — WHAT. A. GOAL. 🚀
From just inside the Shelf half, Manny let the ball drop over his shoulder before unleashing an outrageous left-footed volley over the keeper and into the top corner.
🧤 Then came another massive moment.
With Clayton leading 3–2, Shelf were awarded a penalty, but Shane Callaghan produced a huge save to preserve the advantage.
Shelf continued to push and eventually sent their goalkeeper forward in search of an equaliser.
⭐ Jack Moor won the ball and cleared into space, allowing Michael to race clear and roll the ball into an empty net.
4–2. GAME OVER.
We made mistakes and got punished, but the response showed exactly what this group is about — character, belief and togetherness.

Two goals, relentless work rate and complete control of the midfield. Manny was at the heart of Clayton's second-half comeback and fully deserved the officials' Man of the Match award.
