Valley progress to supplementary Keighley Cup semi final 🏆
After last years disappointments in the keighley cup, Valley were desperate to right some wrongs this year.
Despite this it was Sutton who opened the scoring in the opening moments of the game after a short corner was taken quickly, catching Valley asleep and the Sutton attacker whipped the ball into the near top corner of the valley goal.
The rest of the game was dominated by Valley as we created lots of opportunities but couldn’t provide a finishing touch.
The task was made ever harder as Cian Cryer had to exit the field due to a knee injury. Meaning from the 20th minute Valley were left with only 1 substitute.
After hitting the woodwork on 3 occasions the ball seemed as if it was destined not to go in.
Until the 55th minute after Joel Oxford who had been moved from centre back to centre forward created some space and hitting the shot across the goalkeeper who parried into space and Rob Tosney reacted first putting the game level.
2 quick fire goals followed as Patrick Blackler and Michael Coffey both headed home to put Valley in much deserved control of proceedings.
The final goal of the game soon followed as Joel Oxford turned his man and put the ball into a dangerous area for Tommy Horton to head into the back of the Sutton net.
Next up we face Oxenhope Development in the Presidents trophy at Marley.
