⚽ MEET THE TEAM – RICHARD ⚽
Today’s Meet the Team features our Under-13s coach, Richard.
Richard co-coaches the Under-13s alongside Jack, and we’d like to thank him for taking the time to contribute to our Meet the Team series. We’re looking forward to seeing what his side can do throughout the season.
Good luck to Richard, Jack and all the boys over the course of the season! 👏⚽
1. Which football team do you support?
Manchester United. I lived in Manchester when I was younger and even went to school with Brian McClair and Jim Leighton’s kids, so football was always a big part of life growing up.
2. What’s your role at Hibs?
I’m the coach of the Hibs Under-13s.
3. What’s your coaching background?
I’m totally new to the coaching side of grassroots football, although I’ve had three years’ experience as a very opinionated parent on the sidelines!
One of the things I really like about Hibs is that the club and its management are passionate about giving all kids the opportunity to play and enjoy football. That’s something I strongly believe in.
4. What do you want the kids to get from football?
First and foremost, I want them to have fun and enjoy playing football. Beyond that, it’s about doing the little things a bit better and seeing each player improve, even if it’s only a small amount, every week.
For me, success isn’t just about results. If the kids are enjoying themselves, developing and looking forward to coming back next week, we’re doing something right.
5. What would you like to see for the future of Hibs?
I’d love to see Hibs have their own home ground in Bracknell, with a number of teams across different age groups.
Most importantly, I want Hibs to remain a club where young kids can play regardless of their ability. If a child wants to play football, Hibs should do everything it can to help them get on a pitch, be part of a team and enjoy the game.
