🔥🌞 The summer heat continued to test runners last week, but Bourton Roadrunners once again produced some fantastic performances both at home and overseas! 💙❤️

🏃‍♀️ Wednesday’s Bugatti 10K at Gotherington provided an extra challenge, with soaring temperatures and the notorious final climb up Prescott Hill Climb.

👏 Arianna Downs ran brilliantly to finish in 48:53, claiming 🥉 3rd Senior Woman and 7th woman overall.

💪 Close behind, Claire Cox looked strong throughout, finishing in 49:54 to take 🥉 3rd LV50.

Louise Colwyn completed the Bourton trio in 60:57, with the team just missing out on 2nd women’s team, while Barry O’Leary battled the heat to finish in 62:16, closely followed by John Harding in 62:30.

🌍 Across the Atlantic, André Martins took on the Trails for Whales 5K in Provincetown, Massachusetts 🇺🇸, completing the scenic charity race in 26:59 and finishing well up the field.

🥾 The previous weekend, Lisa Braid and training partner Allie enjoyed the challenging Uffington White Horse Gallop Trail Half Marathon, completing the spectacular course in 2:56:48. 🌿

🎉 No weekend is complete without ! Bourton Roadrunners were out in force, with another overall female victory and plenty of category wins. 🙌

🏃‍♀️🔥 Another fantastic week for Bourton Roadrunners! 🔴🔵

Monday evening saw Steph Lane continue her outstanding season at the Frampton 10K, organised by Stroud & District AC. Despite a packed racing schedule, Steph produced another superb run to finish 🥈 second woman in 37:35, just 21 seconds behind Severn AC’s Alice Tredgett and over a minute quicker than her time on the same course in 2025. 👏💪

Of course, no weekend is complete without a ! 🌳🏃 Bourton Roadrunners were out in force across the country, with Lily King 🌟 and Rebecca Townsend 🌟 both taking 🏆 first woman overall at their respective events, while Ed Simpson continued to push his boundaries with another determined run. 💙❤️

🏃‍♀️🔵🔴 Another action-packed weekend for Bourton Roadrunners! 🔴🔵

Saturday saw four take on the brand-new onelapbeyond event at the Upperwood Hill Farm near Moreton-in-Marsh. 💪

The unique challenge consisted of running either 2km or 4km every hour, on the hour, for 12 hours, with the rest of each hour to recover before going again! ⏱️🏃

Our team of Steph Holton, Lorna Shawcross, Claire Cox and Rebecca Townsend – all experienced ultra-runners – embraced the challenge with plenty of support from family and friends throughout the day. ❤️👏 Together they completed the 48km event, enjoying every lap, with Rebecca Townsend producing a fantastic performance to finish as 🥈 second female and 🥉 third overall!

Earlier in the week, Kevin Goodwill stepped onto the track for the very first time at the Blackbridge Jubilee Athletics Track in Gloucester. Representing his first-claim club Cheltenham Harriers, Kevin competed in the Gloucestershire AAA 5km Track Championships, where he battled the hot conditions brilliantly to finish in 19:24, taking 🥇 MV35 and earning the age-category gold medal. Congratulations, Kevin! 👏🏅

Race report - part 2

🌅 Also chasing a challenge was Michela Sartori at Derbyshire’s Holbrook Hill Race, a tough 5-mile multi-terrain event supporting Pancreatic Cancer 💜. Battling steep climbs and soaring temperatures, Michela finished strongly in 45:34. 👏

🏊🚴🏃 Megan Ratcliffe and Graham Lane returned to the Upton Triathlon, and both improved on their 2025 performances.

🌟 Megan slashed an incredible 18 minutes from last year’s time to finish in 2:59:20, while Graham recorded 3:42:54. Even better, both claimed 1st place in their respective age categories! 🥇🥇

🏃 Sunday saw three Bourton Roadrunners head to the Compton Verney 10K & Half Marathon.

👏 Lisa Braid ran a strong 10K, finishing in 52:36.

Meanwhile, Claire Carroll and Jaq Underwood tackled the Half Marathon together, crossing the line in 2:10:39, with Claire also securing FV55/3. 👏

Race report - part 1

🔥🥵 Heat, hills, triathlons and PBs… it’s been another incredible week for ! 🔵🔴

The racing got underway on a very warm Wednesday evening at the Hawkstones 5K & 10K, winding through the picturesque villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.

🏃‍♀️ In the 5K, Bourton’s in-form Steph Lane was simply untouchable, setting a blistering pace to take 1st overall in an outstanding 17:47 🥇🔥

🌇 On Friday evening, Melissa Samuel travelled to Coventry for the Coombe Abbey Park Summer 10K. Despite another brutally hot evening, Melissa produced a fantastic run, taking an incredible 17 minutes off her 2025 time! 🚀

🇪🇸 Further afield, Darren Long headed to Spain for the Banyoles Duathlon (10K run 🚴 40K bike 🏃 5K run) to represent GB. Giving it everything as always, Darren crossed the line in 2:14:16—an impressive five-minute improvement on his National Championships performance back in March. 💪

⛰️ Saturday saw Pippa Marsden take on the demanding Black Mountains Half Marathon, featuring a staggering 4,000ft of elevation. With much of the course proving “un-runnable”, this one was all about embracing the challenge, conquering the heat and celebrating her birthday in unforgettable style! 🎂🥳

🏃‍♂️🔥 Another fantastic week of racing for Bourton Roadrunners! 🔥🏃‍♀️

The week got off to the perfect start on Wednesday evening as Conor Shoemark made a successful return to racing at London’s Victoria Park. Competing in the Chase The Sun Half Marathon, former jockey Conor, coached by Tom Knight, led home a strong field of 63 runners in 1:21:34 🥇. A brilliant performance and his first race win for a while—watch this space! 👀⭐

Sunday morning brought more success at the Evesham 10K, where Steph Lane continued her incredible winning streak, finishing as 🏆 First Lady in a superb 37:09, crossing the line an impressive 2½ minutes ahead of the second-placed woman! 💪🌟

There was more silverware for Bourton as Darren Long claimed 🥇 1st MV50 with a strong 40:26, while Maxine Emes enjoyed another excellent run, finishing in 45:19 👏.

For John Harding, the Greenwich Park 10K remains a firm favourite, combining family time with spectacular views across the London skyline and Canary Wharf 🌇. The challenging course through the historic parkland surrounding the Royal Observatory saw John finish in 62:15, earning 🥈 2nd MV65. Well done, John!

Meanwhile, Barry O’Leary headed to Staffordshire for the scenic Cannock Chase Forest 10K 🌳. Surrounded by beautiful woodland, Barry completed the course in a very respectable 69:45. 👏

🌞 Heatwave Challenges, Golden Performances & Another Busy Weekend for ! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The recent hot weather has created plenty of challenges for runners, disrupting races and training sessions alike. It also had a major impact on the European Transplant Games in Arnhem, 🇳🇱 with several events postponed or cancelled. Thankfully, the 5K road race went ahead safely – and what a performance from Lee Hutton! 💪🥇

🏅 Lee Hutton claimed 🥇 Gold in the VM70 category, finishing 25:23 against a strong field of 89 runners despite the difficult conditions. A fantastic achievement in his new age category! 👏

🌊🏅 With temperatures easing, the Tenby Marathon was able to take place through the stunning Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline. Supporting a friend over the challenging 26.2-mile course, Jaq Underwood crossed the line in 4:17:41, earning 🥉 3rd place FV60. Fantastic running! 👏

🏙️ The Gloucester 10K, supporting local charities, also went ahead with over 800 runners taking part. Running together through the cathedral, quays, canal and docks were:

Part 1

🌍🏃‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏊‍♀️ Bourton Roadrunners were on the move this weekend, with members racing from Poland to South Africa, Greece and beyond, producing some fantastic performances along the way! 👏

🇵🇱 Leading the way was Maxine Emes, who took on the Challenge Gdańsk Half Ironman in northern Poland in hot conditions. Maxine completed the 1.9km sea swim in 31:30, followed by a 90km bike ride in 2:54:00 before finishing strongly with a 21.1km run in 1:51:03. 💪🔥

🏅 Her efforts earned her 2nd place in the FV45 category and one of just six qualifying spots for next year’s Challenge World Championships in Slovenia! 🇸🇮 As if that wasn’t enough, Dr Emes was also awarded 🩺🏆 First Medical Worker Overall — a fantastic achievement on and off the race course.

🇿🇦 Craig Colwyn travelled to South Africa for his second Comrades Marathon, the iconic 85km ultra renowned for its challenging cut-off times. Tackling this year’s demanding uphill route, Craig crossed the line in 9:16:17 — more than 10 minutes quicker than his time on last year’s downhill course! ⛰️🏃‍♂️ Despite hoping for an even faster finish, Craig summed up the experience perfectly: “Incredibly good fun.” 😃

🏡 Closer to home, Jemma Franzmann took part in the inaugural Stow-on-the-Wold 10K, held as part of celebrations marking the town’s 550th anniversary of receiving its Royal Charter. Running in very warm conditions, Jemma finished in 1:00:27. ☀️👏

🇬🇷 Meanwhile, Viv D’Alton headed to the stunning West Mani Sports Festival in Greece, completing the 10.8km race in 1:06:36. 🌊🏃‍♀️

🐎 Duncan Lambourne made the trip to Suffolk for the Newmarket 10K, finishing in 1:26:04. Well done Duncan! 👏
